Zero mods etc.
« on: June 29, 2017, 06:06:45 PM »

These posts were spread across the 2013+ Zero forum, & now that most of the work items are completed I thought I'd organize them so they might be more helpful / usable.  They're not in any particular order, just grouped together to some extent.  These were done to a 2014 FX, but many apply to other years and/or models as well.

Brake pads

Front brake squeal fixed

Front brake master cylinder upgrade

J Juan rear brake mods (11mm MC / 25mm caliper pistons)

30mm rear brake caliper upgrade

Handlebar riser adaptors

Footpeg relocator adaptors

Domino throttle installation

520 / 530 chain & sprockets

10T / 65T chain & sprockets

2014 FX wheel upgrade (to 2016 FX wheels)

19 x 2.50 FX rear wheel

30mm rear lowering (no loss of travel)

Precision wheel / swingarm bearings & replacement

Rear wheel alignment jig

FastAce front fork oil change / custom springs

FastAce fork oil - spring change, part 2

Fox shock installation

SDG custom seat

Mean Well HLG chargers moved off bike

The main remaining item is the FastAce fork revalving - I should get to that this fall or winter.

Already adopted the 11/65T chain conversion.

Ray's footpegs adapters are being machined as we speak.

Front brake master cylinder will probably be next.

Following your footsteps 😉
Great work Ray, and a big contribution to the Zero community.

If someone feels like adding these threads to the Advanced Modifications wiki page, especially trying to summarize them, I'd much appreciate it. A good number of them are already present from a quick scan.

Anything that gets added to the wiki, I can usually find and clean up and categorize, so don't worry about getting all the editor notation right.

Thanks Oded!  How's the chain working?  You might also find that one of the newer radial master cylinders works even better than the piston kind, especially if it has a brake switch built in.

Thanks too Brian... I'd add it myself if I knew how, but I'd prefer someone do it who won't muck it up. :)

Nice!  So much better to be waiting for the chain than the stuff in your photo... :)

Lost my faith in Zero with my 2011 S, but regained it with my 2014 SR.  Diginow SCv2 changed my SR from a fun ride to primary transport.
