I am in doubt... do I want the Zero SR/S or en Energica Eva/Ego? Oh boy these 1st world problems are tough!

That would be a tough choice for me also.

Buy both! That will solve your problem!

The Energica has DCFC and a reverse. Can change regen in any mode. Six traction control settings.

The SR/S can have a center stand and better luggage. Better AC charging, but no DCFC.

You have to decide which features you like the best. A lot of it will be based on where you ride the most.

The other thing that isn't mentioned very often is that Zeros have noticeably less maintenance requirements than do the Energicas, which will make life easier on your typical motorcycle owner who no longer cares much for the cost or hassle of vehicle serving.

Sam of NewZeroLand has a video of performing maintenance on his Energica.  That pretty much turned me off of getting one...  The Zero requires far less maintenance and I prefer riding than wrenching any day of the week.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that also. But it's not that big of a deal, IMO. It will give me something to do. I recall seeing that video of the maintenance, but I think Sam did more than was really necessary, but I am glad he covered it all. 


But I do wish the Energica had a center stand that could be used for stuff such as removing wheels and other such servicing. I do have the thingies to put the wheels up, but they normally require two people and I am usually alone these days., being widowed (cancer) for five years, after 43 years together.

I have a $30 Harbor Freight track stand.  No attachments required for the bike, the swingarm fits perfectly into the provided channels on the lift.  The Zero is the only bike in my garage that does NOT have a centerstand and is the one that requires it the most (the K1200LT is a shaft drive, and the XMAX has the motor mounted on the swingarm with a fully enclosed drive system).  Only the Zero needs to be put up on a stand to periodically check the belt tension (though I haven't had to adjust it once since I've owned it).

I had to replace the belt once when the outer protective rubber cover dried out and started cracking and falling off.  I'm not the only one to experience this, there were a couple of others here who have as well.  Now once a month I wipe down the outer cover with Armor-All and so far the belt hasn't shown any sign of repeating that failing.  FWIW, I do NOT consider that normal wear and tear, but Zero would not reimburse me the price of a new belt or the labor to have it installed.

I also have the HFT stand along with several others. But with the Zeros, I use a small and get both wheels off the ground. Easy for one person to use with a Zero. Just remember to hold the bike when you bring it back down!

I wouldn't be surprised. The only way I knew the brand name was that it is embossed on the rubber pad of the jack. Likely, a glue-on for each company that orders one from the factory.

Other questions...

Backseat
Whats the backseat and especially footpeg position like for passengers?
When bike turns electric its way more likely I will be taking sunday rides with wifey on the back. She hates how the FZ6 makes her hair smell like gas... Have tried to compare pictures of SR/S and EVA/EGO - it looks quite similar to me but in generel the SR/S seems like a lower bike than EGO/EVA (rear seat hight I mean). FZ6 passenger footpeg position it not that comfortable and I suspect especially EVA/EGO is much worse (even more tucked up / very bent knees). This is not a dealbreaker - just curious.
Maybe EGO/EVA's passenger footpegs can easily be removed to make something custom? Or is the base of the 90 degree passenger foot joint welded?

Weight
Found an interesting 2018 EGO on mobile.de... Of course it has the small battery and very short range (80-180) but it's half the price of a new with big battery. Is there a significant weight difference between the small and big battery EGO/EVA?

Old/New Energica
Any other known big differences or are we down to small bits and pieces between a 2-3 year old and new model Energica's.

The newer Energica is lighter, but the older bike stays cooler at highway operation than the newer one.  They moved some of the metal around to fit more cells in.

The larger battery is 60% more power-dense and is significantly lighter. Although I know they still list the smaller battery models for sale, I don't think there have been any orders for them since the release of the 21.5kWh models.

As far as I remember the Ego with 21,5 battery is about 270kg?

Damn… that kind of killed some of the interest in one I was eyeing.
It is a white one with the lime front fender. I wish they still made those. Unfortunately don’t like the red and the grey is so subtle that a car might not spot me.
But very few parts to paint if that ends up being the case.
