sodium has less energy density, heavier, less power, but yes cheaper and easier to recycle.  but who wants a bike that weighs 30 lbs more and goes 30miles less?

right now the prevailing directions seem to be  make something different, or make something safer.  different is unexplored territory,  safer, you have a lot of help/known's but also a lot of competition.

supercaps, are about as simple as you can get.  mylar /carbon powder rolled up like one big tootsie roll, or would that be hoho    can series for higher voltage but have limitations there, and current limitations.

liquid batteries show a lot of promise too, the vanadium flow batteries look very interesting, but, like everything else, you see a few cinderella stories, half of which are begging for you to throw money at them and get in on the 'ground floor' bla bla... weve seen that before.

who knows, with quantum computers and such, maybe something will be discovered that is another disruptor, what they can do is amazing but unfortunately we know humanity, they won't  be used mainly for 'good'.

Can Energica owners collectively sue the entity that holds assets and IP regarding VCU firmware support to surrender a computer application to upload from existing VCU, save for future need and download to VCU when a hardware replacement is required?  Seems this would not infringe on IP and as consumers we would be given opportunity to preserve our investments.  Just wondering...reality is the answer is, no.

ive seen numerous e motorcycles ./ bikes that are using 48 volts and some of these things are just crazy insane what they can do. even with a simple pancake / manta motor onit, it's crazy the power they have.

if the thing was turned off, turning it on, you still have to enable it, bla bla, that complaint is petty, but quite predictable when someone has nothing else to explain away their inferiority   if that became a thing, they could easily put a switch circuit in there to put an extra second or two on or whatever an ice takes to kick off.  to make it about the same as turning the key on an ice bike.  hell even the energica pressing the button it takes a second or two to go green. about the same as turning a key on an ice bike, so don't see the problem.  shrug.

love seeing things like this where people are making electric work.  the more we can get out there, tbe more support we will eventually have.

not necessary,  with that rating of wire,  too hot, is literally too hot to touch.  you'll be fine.

i understand your point don but this isn't a startup or new item being brought to the market.
at least an update would be nice, but then again, look what we are dealing with.

A club I am involved with had the yearly hare scramble and there were a few electric motorcycles entered.  I am putting a link to the results for the 11:00 race which is the C class and the Juniors (Who in some cases have already been promoted to B or A) women, sportsman (no trophy).  The guy on a surron shows up in place 82 and said according to another club member still had 20% left.  There must also be one or two kit conversions that show up as Honda or Yamaha or something else.  Navigate to Lumberjack June 7 2026 novice overall if my link comes up somewhere else.

The complaint is with the start.  I am guessing they just twist and go while the others have a dead engine start.  My KTM freeride has a starter button essentially and would not really have an advantage if the thing was on and waiting for the button to be pushed.  It takes 10 or more seconds to be able to push the start button after the key is turned or kill switch on the handlebar is put to off and then on.  It is like a wave start 20 or so at a time a minute apart.

As a Zero customer since 2012, that is my observation, too.

Speaking of sodium lithium batteries, I recall that when Zero first announced their bikes (before the board took over and the founder got the boot) they advertised that they were using sodium-based batteries, not because  they had a lot of capacity, but because they were relatively easily to be recycled. But I think that claim about using sodium batteries didn't make it into their first production models.
