Good stuff. We’re slowly getting to the point where ad hoc trips like this will be as easy as doing it on a gas bike. I applaud his willingness to somewhat “wing it” in regards to planning his charging stops. I’m not sure I would be up to attempting a trip like that without meticulous planning.

I wouldn't. I store the charge locations I expect to use in my Garmin GPS. If I were going that far, I would also use PlugShare while on the road.

BTW, I would rather do that trip across the country on your Ribelle any day. I wonder how many times he had to charge at ~1.5 KW. I doubt if he could find CCS everywhere he went across the county. He probably got stuck overnight at a few RV parks for his ten hour charge.

When Electric Terry was riding back and forth across the country 8 years ago on his 2012 Zero he would usually stay at hotels for the night. Sometimes he would bring his Zero into the hotel's elevator and then into his room where he would recharge it over night.

I put my Zero in the hotel as a party prop!

I sorta... Winged it.  I said I needed to use the freight elevator for a 'wheeled prop'

They're always worried about fuel and oil but then are usually okay with batteries.

I don't recall that he said.  But I wouldn't be surprised that he slipped it in somehow. Terry is nothing if not creative.

I asked this was well and Diego told me between Jun 3-21. So like 3 weeks. So like 166 miles per day.

166 miles a day sounds like most of the charging was at L1 speeds. As in ride for 2 hours or so, charge for 8-10 hours, ride for another 2 hours or so and repeat this day after day. A few years ago I rode a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway on my Eva and cover 414 miles using only CCS charging. Pretty sure a Zero  with 6.6 kw L2 charging would cover a lot more than 166 miles in a day.

I do around 200 miles on most of my rides.

I did my last 200 miles three days ago on my Energica. I took Hwy 80 to Truckee, down 237 on the west side of Lake Tahoe, to Hwy 28, to hwy 89 to back home on Hwy 50.

I did three CCS charge stops. Truckee Save Mart, South Lake Tahoe and Pony Express Trail Shell gas station at the Pollock Pines on Hwy 50. I checked into each on Plugshare, with photos.

I still had 50% SOC charge when I got home. Even the SS9- can go about as far as I can on a charge. Out here, the SS9-  has all the range I need as there are CCS chargers everywhere around this area.

I think that is just for CHAdeMO, not CCS.
