I've seen some pics floating around but curious, have then finalized the production model yet? I'd love to see it and hope it's not sportbike looking.

I certainly haven't heard or seen anything regarding the 2019 Zero models.  Typically, Zero keeps their new bikes under a tight wrap until they are ready to release them to the press and to the public via an European vehicle show.  I know that they test them around their Scotts Valley factory and in the Santa Cruz Mountains, but I bet they cover any new components with bodywork from the 2018 models.

     Since this is the LiveWire forum, I think that he was referring to that product and not Zero. Regardless, Harley s just blowing smoke up everyone's ass about a bike in 2019. If they do put anyhting out, it won't be until 2021 or 2022 and it will be outdated, overpriced, and undesirable so that they can say that they tried but consumers are not interested in electric motorcycles... Blah...Blah...blah.

Sorry, I didn't pay any attention to the thread title. I had Zero on my mind.   

I had forgotten all about the LiveWire.  The last I heard, H-D claimed that they were going to market a "premium" electric motorcycle sometime within the next couple of years.  Since they have invested in Alta, perhaps it will a bike using their drive train technology and H-D will design the chassis to put it in. What that is going to look like is anyone's guess. But one thing is sure, when H-D says it will be a "premium" model it is bound to be expensive and have really nice paint.  Plus, it will get a ton of press in the Press.

Why is that? Persoal preference. I really dislike sportbikes and would prefer a cruiser frame.

It's  not your fault, it's just ignorance.
Making a motorcycle comfy when sitting still is stupid if it's just cupping air, giving you less control, and making the bike impossible to ride properly.
It's a "style" in the same way fashion designers make absurd clothes. Sure you can argue about the look all day but at the end you just have an opinion that means nothing and a bike that sucks.
If they want any chance in hell of selling this thing it needs performance and at least midmount controls. It needs ground clearance and good brakes. It needs to not suck.

I'm with you... Unfortunately, big companies are subject to various interests (e.g. shareholders), so they tend to move slowly. This situation has occurred more than once in the car industry. Let's see what the future brings.

Harley outsells the rest of the world over 500cc on the road , they have over 50% of market share .

I just feel sorry for Alta EV's.
Probably HD will get their knowledge and drop the brand....
But maybe it will get their LiveWire project on top with it to be successful (range / weight / torque).

Anything else, every brand should watch out for HD taking them in their company. Hope Zero doesn't bite if they show interest.

H-D's problem is that their dealers and the vast majority of their customers are just not interested in electric power. They want lots of noise and drama, which you don't get with electric vehicles. Plus, their dealers want to sell lots of after-sales parts, closthing and accessories that make noise and drama. Every time H-D tries to get away from noisy IC cruisers, the plan fails and eventually they drop the idea and go back to their "base".  I wish them luck, but they are really going to have to "brainwash" both their dealers and their customers to sell the LiveWire and it progeny - if it has any.

Harley's REAL problem at the moment is that that base is dying off, literally. That model isn't going to work for them any more, and is already failing pretty badly. Harley is acutely aware of this, their shareholders are even more so, and that's why Harley is struggling so hard to change their model. They desperately need a new demographic, and Scarlett Johansson in a tight leather outfit flying out of the back of a panel van to rescue humanity isn't a bad way to go these days.

Did you guys hear earlier this year about HD's offer for riding interns?  They get a bike for the summer, ride to events, social-media-ize about it all... and keep the bike after the internship.  I tried unsuccessfully to get one of my 20-something boys to apply, but no dice.  This effort was clearly targeted at the younger crowd, trying to find a way into their interests.
