Power sponges to soak up the juice?
« on: October 12, 2016, 10:10:52 PM »

I have seen videos on super capacitors vs batteries with some pros and cons but I thought I'd pass this along see what anyone thinks of it.

"The capacity would then be astonishingly high, probably close to that of batteries..." he says.

Until proven otherwise, by commercially available, cost-competitive product, I still consider ultracaps to have the same problem they've always had in comparison with good batteries -- far lower energy density. Sometimes you see someone claim very high "power density", probably trying to confuse people, but it's a red herring -- the power density of currently available Li-ion batteries is more than sufficient, and their energy density is far superior to that of ultracaps.

As I said, until proven otherwise.
