New CA EV rebates
« on: September 01, 2016, 11:28:10 PM »

According to an article that I just read, California has just passed a law, expected to be signed by the Governor, that would increase electric vehicle and hybrid rebates to as much as $12,000 per vehicle.  But only "poor" people would qualify for this new rebate - whatever that means.    ???  Somehow, I suspect that this will be another government boondoggle that bureaucrats are going to love and I wouldn't want to bet that electric motorcycles will be included in the rebate master plan.   ::)

I just read in my newspaper today that the CA budget added 132 million dollars to the EV rebate fund - which apparently was out of gas this year.   ;)

I'm on the waiting list for a CA $900 rebate for my Zero, and got an email this week saying they have money again and will be mailing out checks around December.

+1, bikerscooby.  I'm in the same position, having bought my 2016 SR in late July.  I just received notice that the EV rebate program is "back in black" ...... I'm looking forward to seeing that check.

Did you get one of those prepaid Visa incentive cards from the factory?  If so, how has that been working for you?

Yes, I got an incentive visa card and it was declined when I first tried to use it but got it straightened out by calling customer service a few times.  Their website is permanently down so that didn't help.  Anyway I took it back to the Zero dealer and spent it all there on Thursday, they took it with no problem.

@ bikerscooby -

Yes ..... I have had that experience with other pre-paid cards.  And the website was hopeless when I tried to activate my card.  I'm tempted to "spend it all in one place" ASAP, but don't really need a big one's worth of Zero stuff.  Don't really want to play credit card shuffle at the grocery store.

Just out of curiosity ..... what did you get at the dealer; I guess it wouldn't have to be Zero accessories?

I put it towards one of their external quick chargers.  I decided on that rather than the Charge Tank because I only need it when going out of town and don't want to carry the weight all the time.
