I believe Tesla uses NCA in the Model S. Haven't heard many stories about the Model S cars going up in flames, even though each car packs ~8500 cells.. at least for the 85 kWh variant.
Doesn't mean it's impossible to do, of course, just that it is possible to engineer a safe system.
Tesla S P85 is 416 hp = 313 kW, or about 3.7C.
Tesla S 60 kWh is 362 hp = 272 kW, or about 4.5C.
