2 more electric motorcycles from the EICMA show
« on: January 24, 2012, 05:08:02 AM »

I have been going through the February issue of Motorcycle Consumer News and came across their report on last year's EICMA motorcycle show in Italy.  They picked up on two electric motorcycles that I can't recall have been mentioned before:

The "Concept E-go" by Husqvarna is a 176 pound electric motorcycle with a single-sided swingarm CNC-machined 17" wheels and a Coaxial Traction System (which shares the swingarm pivot with the countershaft sprocket.

Then there is the Sherco "SE Electric", which is described as "a very serious off-road bike with a chrome-moly freame, WP suspension and Brembo brakes. The motor is a water-cooled 144V unit peaking at 8000 rpm. In addition, it has a regenerative braking system while the transmission is a 2-speed sequential unit."  The bike weighs just 225 pounds.

I like the Husky better, but why did they put a single side front on it? How does that help anything?

Thanks for the photos, Travis.  That Husky looks striking, OK.  :) But then that is what concept vehicles are supposed to do.  Somehow though, they rarely look the same if put into production.  ;)

I think Husky was just throwing something on their bike in the way of a weird front end in order to gain some attention for their bike.  I kind of doubt that they would ever actually produce such a thing for sale, as I agree it doesn't make much sense - especially having two fork tubes on the one-sided fork.  You aren't going to save any weight, but it might make changing the front wheel easier.  However, I doubt that is a big concern in motocross or trials competition.   ::)
