Electric motorcycle design article in MCN
« on: March 15, 2011, 04:31:25 AM »

On pages 38 and 39 of the April 2011 issue of Motorcycle Consumer News is an article by Glynn Kerr, a prominent motorcycle industrial stylist, discussing the design of most of the current production electric motorcycles. He seems to prefer the design of the MotoCzysz, followed by the Mission R and the Brammo Empulse.

Some comments that he has are: "MotorCzysz has done an admirable job integrating its cassette-style batteries into the design of the E1pc motorcycle".

"Mission R has both fluid bodywork and prominent, well-detailed engineering"

"Purposeful Brammo Empulse features its high-tech battery compartment".

Also mentioned are the Brammo Enertia which: "suffered from its heavy, flat-sided bodywork" and "The early Zero S looked heavy, with uninspired integration of the battery. The X/MX are better".

Ahh motorcycle stylists...  A job entirely about helping form triumph over function.

Still there are more useless jobs...  Car designer for instance, who's only goal is to make the small cars larger and with more cup holders.

The *most lovely* motorcycle on earth would be without a shadow of a doubt (well in my mind anyway) the Ducati MotoGP bike.  "styled" by an aerodynamicist not a stylist.

Thanks as always for keeping us up to date with stuff like this Richard.

"styled" by an aerodynamicist, I like it!
