the rider makes a ton of difference.
you also have to remember these bikes are stupid heavy probably a good 100 lb or so over the others, so coming into those turns, hes wrestling a lot more mass than the others. on the other side, the bike is instant torque even up in its upper end, the moment he gets it coming back up from the turn hes kicking it and its going right now, no power band or other crap to have to worry about.
the only downside is hp, as the battery drains, the upper hp constantly drains down, so you end up with less and less ability each lap as voltage sags. at those speeds, he needs every single little pony he can get, so yah that 20 hp loss means a ton.
he did exceptionally well out there and the fact he was able to keep on it, keep in the lead for so long, is a true testament to how far electric is progressing, the skill of their team AND engineers for being able to squeeze every oz out of the batteries without them woofing and the rider for wrestling that heavy bitch all those laps.
