I came across a 2024 SR power tank take off, and bought it. After removing both batteries in my 2015 FX, installing the new power tank in one of the old battery's spot, installing a loop back plug, and keying the bike on, nothing happens.

Could my bike need a newer MBB firmware to talk to the battery? Did the seller pull one over on me (dead battery)? I've tried using a mix of old and new battery but that doesn't work either.

In this picture, where the red probe is, there isn't a female pin on my power pack. It's just empty/plastic. Same for the two next to it, and those are the pins that are supposed to open the contactor

You want to Close the contactor as in close the open (circuit).

Is it a 10k or 100k resister?
Which instructions are correct?
The video, the manual, or you?


Each is conflicting & I don’t know which is right.
There are 8 sockets & 8 pins on the control/monitor side & -/+ on the battery side. 
Suggest you probe all 32 different combinations for battery voltage.
Make sure that the socket is truly missing vs damaged as was the case in the discussion you provided via link.

I don't know which is right either, I'm using the information from others. The video says 100k resistor, the diagram says 10k. I'm using a 100k. I have probed all sockets and found nothing of importance. A few volts here and there.

It appears that the pins are not there from the factory, it would be near impossible to damage just these 3 pins.

I will say, I have 3 short bricks total. 2 from the original bike, 1 new one. Only 1 of the 2 original batteries will close the contactor off bike with my diy cable, but both original batteries work when keyed on. Strange behavior.

An image is worth 10k words (missing sockets).
10k might also be the resistance needed to pull the contactor in.
Then again it might let the smoke out of the wires. 
Maybe try two 100k resisters in parallel for 50k & see if that pulls in the on bike working battery.
(Try at your own peril).


What voltages are you seeing on the power pack battery? Millivolts? 
I assume you are able to probe the two working batteries via the pins & sockets just to verify that the test procedure is valid.

I still say figure out how to access the line side of the contactor (inlet directly from the battery) to see if the battery is toast or not. 
Confirm via the one battery your able to energize the contactor that the contactor lives in the doghouse on the top of the monolith.
Unfortunately I’m not familiar enough to say it’s there but I suspect it is.

Apparently this is a cypher 3 battery, which is different from cypher 2, and not compatible. If anyone is thinking you can buy a newer power tank for their fx YOU CAN'T! You have to get the zf 3.6 power packs (for $3,000).

I guess I am going to try swapping the doghouse from my old fx battery to the newer power pack. Or purchase a newer cypher 3 bike.

Batteries are dumb, however BMS’s are smart & require proper inputs from the battery for cell monitoring/balancing.
I’m guessing that as long as the old & new(er) batteries have the same tap configurations you should be good to go???
