Antora graphite storage batteries

I found this article that was in my newspaper today interesting. I wonder if graphite batteries can also be used for powering vehicles?

I think this is more some of the niche battery types that work very well for fixed site storage where power density, thermal performance, and handling tolerance aren't such a big deal because those problems have easy engineering solutions in those use cases. Cost and longevity are much more important in fixed storage.

Sorry, this appears to be a misunderstanding.  :D

This is about 'Thermal Batteries', i.e. containerised modules made of anorganic materials that heat up to well over 1500 degC when an electrical current is run through. By this means surplus electrical energy can be stored as heat to be used later in industrial processes that need heat.
Business case could be 'loading' the TB around noon, when the solar panels push their (then cheap) power into the grid and use the heat in the night instead of firing coal, oil or gas. Moreover that could lower the CO2 footprint.

Competitors of the company mentioned in the article would be Electrified Thermal Solutions, Calectra, NOC Energy and others, if you are interested to learn more about this.
