I didn't read it all but from what I gathered this isn't anything to worry about at all, it relies on either being able to pair with the bike over bluetooth which means they already have your keys to put it in pairing mode, or they have to access the OBD port which again means they have your keys to pull the seat off. Also the first article is very sensationalist, talking about being able to cut the brakes or set the battery on fire through software.

If anything this is good news (unless you're just an idiot who would allow someone with malicious intent to have way too much access to your bike), it opens up the possibility of custom firmwares and being able to fix problems without going to the dealer.

or more importantly,  fix shit when the dealers are no longer there.  like Energica is turning out to be

Yeah that too, or the manufacturer as a whole. If Zero ever dies then the servers holding those firmware updates dies with it, this way they can be downloaded and archived for other people and installed even after Zero is long gone.
