unfortunately the contractors are real slimy down here with this solar shit and there is this ....scam is the only way i can describe it, where they sell you a 'backup system' that only is good for 115 volts, they put a few lights, a fan, maybe a small window ac on it and your fridge circuit. then charge you 30 to 40k for the fucking panels inverter and battery pack. they own the electricity too, it's sold back, they some how get the credits, bla bla. im thinking it's another part of the scam where they claim the green credits they are selling to companies that need them, not sure how it works, and don't want to know, totally not interested. You are not allowed to make any other adjustments either. had a friend who i tried desperately to talk out of getting one, but keith, once his mind is made up, that's it, its a done deal. has 8k of panels on his house and a 5kw battery, wtf even why? he wanted to put additional storage on it so it'd last longer during outages.. they wanted to charge him almost 10 grand to slap on another 5k battery. i finally talked him into getting a 10k battery with no questions asked 8 year warranty, 2500 dollars. outback 8kw inverter, ehh 3600 at the time. slap that in, independently, will run entire fkn house, they'll never see it. double the capacity whole house covered now for about 60 percent of the cost.
Another thing they try is they have high pressure sleaze bag salesmen who show up and really push hard for the sale on the spot, you need to get it now or this 'super duper deal' goes away, it's the last day of this special. type of bullshit. then they hook you up with a loan shark lender who will finance the entire thing interest free for 4 years, no payments needed, just pay as you can. bla bla. then they creamed it with the 30 percent tax rebate and made it look like it was all free when it was said and done. the problem is loanshark lender cooked a 9 to 12 origination fee into that overall cost, so you got fkd for 4 grand right there, and if you did not have the thing entirely paid off at the end of the term, ALL the withheld interest comes screaming back on, so now you got 16 to 21 percent interest for 4 years, slam, suddenly your bill is another 14 grand. it was horrible what they did to people. Almost as bad as those dirty sob's crawling around with their 6 thousand dollar 'whole house water treatment' systems, that you can buy and install yourself for about 600 dollars.
unfortunately florida was not the only place with vulture contractors. look at california, how many gigawatts of power systems were sold with micro inverters and zero backup, the moment your grid hiccups it shuts down. totally useless in an outage. why would you want to spend that kind of money on a system that won't backup when the power is off? California also had some scam deal where the state was paying the manufacturers as well x per unit for 'green shit' as well, so them and the installers got kickbacks on those systems too. Everyone got rich, the end buyer got screwed.
while we are at it, sadly, energica was heavily involved in a fucking dope deal of that nature with cali as well, which is also what lead to a lot of their financial difficulties, when the state backed out of paying those people the green money they promised they were going to.
look, i am very pro solar, not to save the planet, global warming is more bullshit to guilt the stupid into giving up billions to the corrupt. it makes sense in a lot of areas, but is not an answer all. it's also rotten to the core with cancer of theft and corruption....just like our politicians around the planet. All that is designed for them to get rich off of you. As a consumer you get a cock to sit on unlubricated, as a player now, installer, seller, you got rich.
ironically, speaking of corruption... the first diesel engine ran off peanut oil, but there was this new thing... oil from the ground.... the rest is history.
