I there wouldn’t be a new investor and attempts to reopen, this might be/might have been worth a shot for rebuilding crashed fairings and design other stuff. However, one cannot be sure about the accuracy.

i actually am in need of some new fenders to replace some...'scuffed parts'  but the real bitch is,  the metal bracket that holds them got boogered and we had to molest it a bit and bend it back in place sort of to hold it and it aint perfect but works.

that does seem steep but then again, look at what fairings cost!  hell look what the auto manu's want for when you crunch up their plastic.  the shit must be made of gold for what they want for it.

It is 195EUR which is circa 230USD.

And making moulds will take MUCH more than 1000USD…

When you buy a spare part, the cost of manufacturing (machine & man hours) and materials is just a tiny fraction of the price you pay.

That model is amazing (in addition to the bike!) It looks like a mock-up that the Energica designers themselves would have come up with. I was thinking it could be a 3D scan, but the quality of the mesh is much too good. Maybe it was cleaned up, or maybe a real model got leaked in the bankruptcy. There's certainly no guarantee that the backside of the fairings is accurate, certainly not down to the fasteners, or that anything hidden inside is in the model.

you'd be amazed what they can do now with scans and 3d printers etc now.  lasers really came a long way and fast.  we now got .002mm engraving lasers that can do 4k engraving, and it seems every 4 to 6 months another breakthrough is making it's way to the mainstream.  laser welding is quickly becoming a thing now too, the prices have come down a ton on them.  you can get a 3kw welder for 4 to 5 grand now.  these things can scale and print / cut  they have items you put on a platter and between it and the laser you have 360 motion essentially and can spin and cut / fine sculp just about anything from plastics to wood to stainless.

if you goto youtube and type in that as a search word, some of the videos of what they can do now will drop your jaw.

I'm working through a tutorial to design some pulleys for a very old belt sander I inherited. I will 3d print them on my home printer and if they are not tough enough, send them out to a commercial printer.

I had a part for my Guzzi that I tried to 3d scan using the cellphone multi-picture method. It never really worked. It was a fun project and I will return to it down the road.

The cost for a 3D-printable model is 1140 €. With jusnt a STP-file I cannot print anything, right?

As Aaron rightly posted (and what I can confirm after 3 'incidents') the holding plates for the fairings are usually bent after a fall and I never managed to twist them into shape.
Are those included in the model? I suspect they are not.

The site is confusing. STL comes with an excessive oncost.
But you can choose STEP, IGES or CATpart for 50EUR extra.  STEP is technically superior and can be converted with free online converters to STL.
