At least on my phone, a Samsung S21FE.
It updated and now the little bar at the bottom is overlaid with the options bar for the Zero app and I cant make selections.
The Zero app still connects to the bike.
I sent an email to Zero support letting them know.

It's not a problem with just the Zero app.  I have a new Samsung tablet and have the same issue with several apps.  My soultion was to go to Settings > Display > Navigation bar and select Swipe gestures.  The problem is Samsung's,not Zero's.

To use the Zero app, I'll switch to swipe temporarily. Its not often needed anyway.
The app worked with the buttons scheme up until the UI update, so they probably should fix it.

I don't like the idea of them having phones as an essential part of the bike's interface. In my opinion they should have all options available on the motorcycle display. The way it is now, to keep customers happy they have to have resources for integrating the app with phones in current use, instead of focusing solely on making motorcycles.
 
As an aside my warranty replacement battery pack + power tank is AWESOME. Zero gets a lot of exposure from me as I ride a consistent  300+ miles weekly. People look and sometimes ask about it. The best commuter bike I've ever had.

sometimes the manu's bean counters think it's a cheaper route to go to pay some indian a few k to whip out an app for the phone, rather than to have to pay coders, etc etc on their own team to do it.  You may think that if they just did it on their bike it would be easier but how many updates, xconfig changes, redo's, mods over the years have they done that ALL have to be compatible.  We don't get to see that quiet little room in hell that they get to play in to make it all work, across all platforms, across all years etc.  I agree though, keep that stuff on the bike, one less poe for problems.

Now you don't even need cheap Indian coders to whip up an app for your phone, or a lot of other computer programs, you can just get an AI to do it for you. They work even cheaper.

As karlh said this isn't an app issue, it's not a case of Zero cheaping out with their app development. It's a Samsung issue, a glitch or bug with the UI. When you've got always on the screen buttons that section of the screen should be treated as a no go area unless the app goes into full screen mode, such as viewing an image in the gallery app or running certain games. Essentially 97% of the time your phone screen is about 1cm shorter in height than it really is, like it would be if it had hardware buttons instead. The issue here is the phone is getting mixed up and running the app full screen (you can also see this at the top with the battery indicator and notifications also conflicting with the app) while also overlaying the buttons. The app is just expanding to the resolution it is told to use.

AI writes beautiful code. Sometimes it actually compiles and works. 
I'd skip the whole app route. Have everything in the bike. Although having the option of getting satnav into the actual display of the bike, and keeping the phone in your pocket, is a nice feature that is getting more common.
