Marc got his hands on a Verge

He doesn't directly say so but I think it's borrowed. He does seem to like it though.

he claims 1000 fig newtons of torque or whatever the hell that number is.
energica ribelle has what 277?

even with all that... sitting more upright on the bike like he is, how do you keep the front end down.  my ego you lay across and i can pull the front end of that at over 100 mph if i am not careful.  i can't imagine how the ribelle is going to behave but i already know from street riding you can pop wheelies real easy, wanted or not.

my question is, if that bike has that much torque,   holding on when romping it is going to be a mfer, and how do you keep it on the ground?  im sure he is worlds more skilled than my 60 year old ass will ever be, but power is power and when it wants to lift, it's just pure physics then, lift or spin the wheel... or both if you are badass....

how much of that is really useable at this point?

You have to remember that hub motors do weird things to torque values. And it's a giant, giant hub motor.

Looks like the SoC algorithm is currently borderline useless. I didn't notice him mentioning sluggish handling so either he doesn't notice it or he doesn't want to draw attention to it. God that touchscreen looks frustrating.

The one thing I did notice is that there seems to be some fan-driven active cooling on the battery pack and that the bike seemed to do sustained back to back 20kW DC fast charges throughout the day seemingly without throttling. The bike is still an engineering nightmare and I do not want one, but it's a good sign if they've managed to do competent thermal management on the battery pack. Or it's being completely hammered and is degrading at a shocking rate.

You confusing motor torque and torque at the wheel. Well, the Verge does technically quote the motor torque but it's a hub motor so it's also the wheel torque. With the Energica you have to multiply that motor torque through the gear box and the sprocket gear ratio. For example I found a 2024 Eve Ribelle RS with a stated 222Nm at the motor then has 1187Nm at the rear wheel. Things would be a lot simpler it everyone just advertised the wheel torque, but then they wouldn't be able to say they have more torque than a Panigale.

Thanks TheRan, for the more detailed explanation.  I appreciate when i make a mistake when people show me what / where i blew it at
I probably did confuse those numbers.  For what little those numbers even are worth anymore given how everyone loves to spin them, pun intended  8)
Fastest bike in the world?  what speed did it hit?  nates bmw 1000 rr blows the shit out of me, and the verge bike sounds a bit less powerful than a decked out corsa pack and bmw race kit.  ill admit i didn't watch the entire vid but what top speed did that hit and what ts sustained of course with expected hp .volt. decay.?

The title is fastest Electric bike in the world. And with Energica being out of production basically it's tied with Zero at 124mph. So that's likely what he's basing it off.

The one number to rule them all is actually ground thrust according to F9.

He didn't mention anything about the handling true, I had picked up on that. He did mention that on rougher roads it's a harsh ride and he's done some *rough* roads on his Zero.

Ultimately he's not really the kind of person who's gonna give a detailed opinion about the bike, he's more about the ride but it's interesting to see a Verge actually getting out into the world and ridden.

One of the reasons I stopped watching him is every single goddamn one of his titles is maximum clickbait and I got tired of it. To the point where his actual "it's over" video showed up on my recommended list and I was like "yeah yeah".

I see what you are aiming at Morgan but, out of production does not mean , doesn't exist, and Energica's they DO exist, and are faster.

in theory even the Ribelle is faster at 125 mph, even though the error in shown .vs. real speed robs you of some mph when it does govern down.

I wonder if my SR/F now does over 124mph with its new gearing... only one way to find out I suppose...

if you changed the gearing, even if you don't go for a land speed record, you should get a gps or  radar or something and see what your new speed actually is now.  you've been used to  reading 90 kmh = really 84 kmh due to whatever errors.... or whatever it happened to be,  that's changed now, and it'd be good to know your true speed .vs. what is shown so you don't inadvertantly get yourself a ticket.

I'm curious to ride one. I'm on the mailing list, so hopefully when the demo fleet comes back to NorCal I'll get some saddle time. I think it may be kinda V-Max...ish or Kawasaki Vulcan Drifter...like.

It's a 240 series rear tire. And according to a Verge employee I messaged with, the rear wheel weighs 48 pounds (22 kilos). Which I said seems like a lot of unsprung mass but they insisted you really can't feel it as much as you think you will.

I want to see how hard it is to make the thing change direction.

But honestly...If Energica continues to be no more, and Livewire shitcans the One, and Zero doesn't get onboard with DCFC, I'll probably get one when my Experia pops smoke just because I don't want to own another ICE bike and I cant have an electric bike without DC charging.

Even if it didn't handle poorly and wasn't just a straight line machine I wouldn't get one simply because of how much hassle that rear wheel assembly is going to be. No tyre shop is going to touch it and even if I bought all the tools to do it myself (if it was even possible using DIY stuff and didn't require a proper tyre machine) I just wouldn't want to do it.

I mean, you signed up for the test rides for the one close to you, yes? https://www.vergemotorcycles.com/store/verge-valley-fair/

I was in San Jose last month and saw an orange and blue one zip by on Saratoga Ave.

Yeah, I'm signed up. I couldn't go a few weeks back, the last time the test rides were available because...reasons.
