Left turn signal fault only when turning right
« on: June 24, 2025, 06:59:02 PM »

I can turn left all day long and never get a turn signal fault.  When I turn right, I never get a right turn signal fault.  Sometimes I get a left turn signal fault.  If I leave my right signal on for a longer time, like when signaling to get off the highway, I will sometimes get one left turn signal fault when I first turn the signal on, then it will clear, and then, without touching anything, another left turn signal fault will come in.  Sometimes I can get a few of these signal faults and things keep working.  Sometimes, on the very first fault, all the turn signals stop working.

Aside from this stupid behavior by the bike, all the turn signals work fine.  I'm really fed up with the faults shutting off all my turn signals.  It's very inconvenient and sometimes dangerous to power cycle the bike when in local traffic or on the highway.  It makes me hesitant to use my turn signals because I always risk not having them available when I need them.

Anyone else experience turn signal faults on the wrong side?  Anyone know what causes the turn signal fault (a specific range of resistance/current, something else)?  If I could just defeat the bike from making faults, I would do it.  Barring that, any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting?  If I completely disconnect one of the right turn signals, I reliably and consistently get an immediate right turn signal fault.  I just don't understand the left fault with the right signal while the left signal never has an issue.  I also don't understand the purpose of disabling the signals if one signal is an open circuit.  I'd much rather have three signals working than zero.  Very frustrating.

I get this on occasion.

I think the issue is the road vibration causing a momentary connection break on an operating signal circuit.  If you take the signal apart, the connecotr tends to get very loose in the actual termination point at the lens.  The nergica seems to be hypersensitive to this electrical disturbance more so than other bikes.

I think the solution is to upgrade the signals to LED units with approriate resistors and more solid vibration free connections.

You could test this theory (easy and inexpensive, I should try it myself)  by soldering the wire connector end to the tab pictured for a solid connection.  There is another tab on the other side.  The connectors do not maintain a perfect enough contact at all times, in my theory...

every connector in energica is SEALED automotive one - DEUTCHS/JST or other good quality one, besides turn signals
they use 2pin generic ones also cables is very thick

I think this is a connection issue, maybe corrosion on terminals

As previous posts says, inpect it and/or just solder it

If you have LEDs I will recrimp to JST 2pin

ive seen this before when i got water in one of my turn signals, it'd intermittantly throw faults.  the board the light bulb plugs in can be corroded, there might be loose wires in there or something shorting.

even though it's sealed up, occasionally things may vibrate loose and start rattling around and touching.  open it up and check for tightness.
also the cable goes thru the fairing and there is a plug back there too, make sure it's tight

So you also get the turn signal fault on the opposite side of the direction you are turning?  Interesting.  Any idea why?

Maybe I'll try soldering to the terminals this weekend. Thank you for the suggestion.

I could be completely wrong, of course, but I think the fault gets thrown when any part of the turn signal system has a momentary broken contact.

FWIW, i crimped down the connectors on to the tabs, very firmly, several months ago, and have not had the fault reappear.

They seem to loosen up over time.

Soldering will be my next step if the fault shows up again.

that whole assembly the wires, the connectors, bulb holding and the circuit board, imo are very cheezy and poorly put together.  they are prone to vibration damage too, especially if you live places that may have shitty washboarded out roads, or you occasionally get a bit spirited with your riding like jumping train tracks etc.   i am sure potholes and hitting curbs hard would put a slam on them as well.  i know i hit a pothole once that knocked my phone out of it's holder at 80 mph, watching it explode on the highway in the mirror was not a happy time.  luckily it was insured.  all that kind od stuff beats up the blinkey lights too

any fault in the system whether it be an open or a short will throw that fault, and also be aware that once the fault is activated it could disable your entire blinker system until you cycle power.
