Hi!

Does anyone happen to know, if the retainer of the real caliper (see pic) is identical with one for another bike?

Dumb me damaged the thread for one of the M8 screws (circled in the pic) by applying too much torque. I managed to fix it temporarily with a new screw and Loctite but I would like a better solution. A new retainer would be great.

If I cannot get one, I plan to use a Helicoil repair thread. Or does anyone have better suggestion?

I would recommend trying your luck with a thread repair (helicoil or other), as the part is easy to remove to work on. either by yourself or by bringing it to a shop.

helicoil can eventually cause havoc too, especially on softer metals, that is aluminum correct?
reach out to energica for a replacement part?
maybe retap and use slightly bigger bolt/screw?

problem being brakes,  how much torque / force can be applied to that part if you brake heavy?
worse case countersink from back and stud it??
just thinking out loud.

If your going to repair it do it right. Use a timesert. You will need a M8x1.25mm kit. Threads will be stronger than the original.

I am a little hesitant as there is not a ton of material on the plate for a larger hole but it should be fine.

Don't try to tap the plate to M10 as you don't want to drill the brake caliper for a bigger fastener.

Yes, the retainer plate appears to be made of aluminium, but Helicoil claims their repair threads are good for it.

Drilling and cutting a M10 is surely out of the question, that would remove too much material from the caliper as well as from the retainer. For the Helicoil the new borehole is Ø 8.4 mm which is only a bit larger than the original one, so the actual material loss should be OK.

The Time-Sert repair sets were not known to me yet, but wow they are expensive and apparently hard to get here in Germany. So, after reading all this, I will use the Helicoil as temporary solution and contact Demoni for a replacement.
