Ducati these days is all about being (or trying to be) the best, the fastest. They're the Ferrari of motorcycles. They don't do the low power "beginner" bikes, every segment they enter is at the upper end. Their lowest power 2 cylinder sportbike is 120hp, 4 cylinder is well over 200, same goes for their naked versions, their adventure bikes are 115 and 170, their "enduro" bike is 110hp, their muscle cruiser is one of the fastest accelerating bikes on the road, their supermoto is beating even KTM, and they've just entered motocross with a proper race bike and taking podiums. Perhaps their only bikes that aren't at the top of their game is the Monster, which is more of a nostalgia piece, and the Scrambler but even that is way more power than you'd ever need if it was actually taken off-road.
Once they've got something that can best Energica (that's not just taking one of their race bikes, because a $100k+ bike would be a tough sell even for them), perhaps even be higher performance than a Panigale V4s, then I can see them coming out with something electric. They're not going to let themselves get left in the dust for the sake of sticking with ICE.
