Anyone convert to keyed ignition from keyless?  Are those parts even available?

Tired of the fob.

Spoke to Rob at EONE, and he told me that at the moment, not possible because there needs to be some programing interface with Italy to get it done.

Pard, you will need to change out the entire control unit.  That will require new programming, and a new unit.  It will need to be programmed, which comes from Italy under the current way things are running.  Chance of that right now is very low.

Hopefully once this whole mess is over with and Energica splits out, the US entity gets it's OWN EVERYTHING.  They can do everything right here in house with programming and all that.  Of course development and innovation bla bla will still be in italy but let the US be a stand alone so it can run properly w/o constantly having to tug on that tether.

In the meantime, you can still use it, just hover the key over the little eyeball on the left side and it should work.  and Yah, I know the keyless is more of a pain in the ass than it's worth in the long run IMO.  The idea was sound but the implementation, just too damned buggy.

Speaking of Rob an EONE, he pretty much solved this for me on my Ego by advising me to just keep the fob under the seat.  Doesn't seen like it would work, but something about keeping it in touch with the body work rather than adjacent to the antennae did the trick for me.  Went from working 1 in 3 even with fob held practically against the antennae up front to NOT working only 1 in 10 and then working on the 2nd try every time.  So yeah, I guess I just leave the key in the bike under the seat, but I don't think that where I live there is anyone around who would know how to start it and drive it away to steal it.

I always start the bike using the fob as a passive key and hold it at the antenna while staring up. In that way, I never get the message key not in range.

My keyless is also horrible and used in active mode , it interferes with the wireless charger.

leaving the key on the bike, I at one time had one taped to the side under the fairing while I was having issues with my fob and had to repair it.
As mentioned the only down side to that is, anyone can walk up turn bike on and go, so depending on where you live, this might not be a good idea.

Putting the key right next to the antenna don't always work, if it's too close that can actually attenuate the signal,  or overload some would say...touching the frame may work as it can act as an antenna amplifier, but as I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, so many other things can interfere with the signal from fob to antenna that what works one day, won't the next.  Your phone can give it grief too, especially if you are bar starved and the phone starts cranking up the power to try to get a better signal.  Even though it may not be the same freq as the fob, putting out a strong signal can bury it or lattice it and it can't read it properly.

Keyless, in theory was an awesome idea, but in application, is not really a good idea in this instance.  I love the Energica brand but have to say, the keyless is more trouble than it's worth IMO.

the keyless is the only thing that I don't like on my eva rs, and I hate it with a passion. even more since I did a good half hour of driving before realising that the key was in the seat lock the whole time...
I get that changing from keyless to keyed seems too complicated, but at least I will replace the seat lock with a simple switch to avoid this mistake.

I think we've all driven off with the Key in the seat lock once or twice.  I have a photo that was given to me, on the race track, with my key in the side of the bike     luckily it's in there very tight and very low chance of falling out.  TBH if you got keyless imo there really isn't any reason to have a key, they should come with the seat thing just a switch / knob, why need a key except for when you need to change a setting?  The experia comes that way.  It's not like you can store anything under the seat that you need to keep locked up.  If you lose your fob / bust it (hint they hate hitting the road at 65 mph)... (ask me about leaving the key on the dash    ) you can always type in your bypass code.

I replaced the seat lock with a twist thing, much better. There is really no purpose for the seat to have a lock. Had the same issue with my Ducati.

I find that this keyless works pretty well overall. Don't really have any issues with it.

Keyless by KTM (SDR 3) and BMW (R1300GS) worked/works without the slightest issue. The one of my SS9+RS however was abysmal. And it got even worse with a firmware update in spring '23. A new antenna gave no improvement. Therefore I had it changed (free of charge on warranty) for a keyed system. This was back in 2023 when there was no issue with parts.

Same with my 2023 ss9 rs. After the firmware update it got a lot worse. As a matter of fact for the year and a half I had it before the update I may have seen key not in range 3 times in 12500 miles. Now every time. I thought after I got a tank bag ring Id be smart and just leave the key in it and it would be right on top of the antenna... Nope, it never worked in the tank bags, I tired 2 of them.
Not that it would help at all but Id love to have a 3D printed key to match mine with a knob on top to just leave in the seat lock. Just think it would break off at some point.
