I was hoping for a little cheaper, if I was to have one I wouldn't be lugging it about often and the stock weight wouldn't be a problem so it wouldn't be worth the extra cost for me. I'm not a huge fan of how they look either. I'd more likely get a set of on and off road wheels.

I'll be interested to know how it holds up to the specs, like range, if it can actually hit 70mph, and if so down to what battery percentage. That's one of the things that really bugs me about me Zero, the decrease in performance as the SoC drops. Coming back from my sister's the other day down near 30% and cold temps I couldn't even get to the 70mph speed limit sometimes.

For me (right now), this was all about form factor.  I DO NOT like that I'll be selling my DSR (it's up on FB and I'll put it up her in the next couple days), but life takes it's twists and turns and here I am.

There are DEFINITELY better options for smaller bikes the price, but none of the electric dirt bikes in this category are legal as this point. (You can go through dirtlegal.com and get a Surron for instance, registered in Montana, but I'll be traveling around and don't want to risk having a FL driver's license, for now, and a bike registered in Montana when I'm in state XX where that bike would not be road legal b/c it doesn't have a VIN. Just watching out for the worst case scenario.)

There are a ton of video's showing top speed, and Solar just put out one of them running the battery down to "0%" (per the screen) and it achieved (of course) the claimed range.    (The BMS cuts off at a safe Voltage of course and shows zero charge left.)

Having had my DSR now for 4 years (and several bikes before then), I know I realistically am not doing much highway driving and E-motorcycles are not good for that really anyway. I take my truck or RV for longer trips (with my dogs), I'll be able to use the E-clipse as a daily driver, as my DSR has mainly been.

I'm sacrificing both looks and performance with this switch (I don't think the E-Clipse is THAT bad and I'm going to wrap mine anyway), but not needing trailer and literally being able to call an Uber to pick me up if I have a breakdown with a worst case scenario (when I'm out of town, etc.) is worth it to me. I've had enough of these kinds of things happen to value these advantages for my situation a good bit.   This is a nice combination of the features of an E-bike (portability,  size etc.) and an electric MC (speed).

If i need to do a 10 mi run on the highway to get somewhere - no problem.  I can then park at the bike rack when I arrive where I'm going, too.

(I imagine too that b/c I'll have side and a rear bag, and that I weight about 200lb, that I'll not hit 70mph, even with the CF wheels, but 60mph should do in a pinch.)

Oh, as far as cold weather, I'll have to see when I'm up north at some point. I've not noticed here in FL.

I know the Solar isn't really a highway suitable bike and wouldn't be any better than my DS, I'm just curious how it holds up in a worst case scenario. A lot of the other similar bikes top out around 60ish mph (if that) in the best case so they're going to be well under that when they're close to the end, but if the Solar could hold 60mph until it's close to empty then that would be pretty good. It's why I'm also considering one of the road legal Sark Vargs at one point, even though they top out at 68mph I've heard that they hold their performance pretty well over the whole battery range.

The Stark Vargs are very cool! (Not yet road legal here in the US.)

As I said, there are a ton of videos, but of course it's just 1 day in most cases (and sometimes with prototypes).

Here's one where Surronster's hitting 60+ pretty easily. (The speedo needs to be calibrated - there's a BT app for that.)

Some off-road stuff, too:

THe real test will be time to see how it holds up, but I don't mind doing maintenance, TBH and will always have backup transportation.
