Hello all, I’ve been very fortunate to get a new battery under warranty. I also have my dashboard updated and got the parking mode installed. I was under the impression that I could get turned by turn guidance also, but the dealership is telling me that that is only available on 2021 or later models? Anyone have any experience with this? Why should 2021 be different than 2020?

Differences?  Internet connectivity, GPS, Software,  one has it, the other did not.

The 2020 model has Internet connectivity and GPS. I thought it was an identical set up essentially.

Don't bother with it. It's half-baked, difficult to use, frequently just stops working completely. Even the worst phone based navigation has it beat by a country mile.

I have it installed on my 2020 SR/F, but as others have mentioned, it is not worth the trouble.  I can't get it to stay connected to the phone for more than 15-20 minutes.  Kind of useless.

Same experience on my 2020 SR/F. I suspect the reason it's listed as in beta and is free is because it's, well... unfinished.

Just use Waze.  It works and they pretty much got the bugs worked out of it by now.

Last year I have used Google Maps on a Samsung 23 Ultra for all my navigation needs, so much so that by October I had screen burns and had the display replaced by Samsung (free of charge). That would be the only advantage the TFT display of the Zero has over the AMOLED one of Samsung. This year I will be using Google Maps with the night mode during the day as well.

You might have a hard time seeing the display in the daytime, in night mode.  Your phone should have some sort of adaptive brightness controls on it where it automatically brightens / dims the screen according to ambient, and there is a slider for you to change it as well.  Might be better off using that and turning the brightness down a bit so it's not burning full bore.  It's worth a try at least.

I have a 2020 srs that had to go in because a failed firmware update locked it up.
When it was returned, it had the new dash, and I can't remember but I think it was after an app update, the navigation was available. So 2020s can have it.
My experience with it was 100% failure. Trying to see if it pointed in the right direction as I went back and forth from work, it never worked. Gave it at least 5 chances. All I got was pointing in the wrong direction, showing streets that don't exist, etc. I can't complain because it was free, they're trying, and I didnt need it anyway. But I never bothered with it again. You probably aren't missing much.

I will give that a try, thanks Aaron.

The previous years I used a Samsung Note 20 Ultra (max 1500 nits), also in its automatic brightness adaptive mode. Many times I had to make a shade with my hand on the screen to be able to read it. This was not an issue with the 23 (max 2000 nits), which is an important reason why I upgraded to that model. Nonetheless, the Note 20 Ultra never got noticeable burned pixels.

By the way, this month the Google Maps team rolled out a feature to show your position in tunnels (*). Okay, probably more relevant for me in Switzerland . Given all what I can already get with Google Maps, I never seriously considered what Zero's offer.
