2013 DS Battery Life
« on: December 08, 2022, 05:04:44 PM »

Hi Guys
Can anyone give some insight into battery life on the Zeros. Is it true these batteries good for 400000km?. Someone must have replaced a battery..how much mileage..years service you get?
So far I have 25000km and 1450 charge cycles.

When I bought my 2018 Zero S with Power Tank, their 2017 brochure specifications claimed a life of 455,000 miles for my model's battery pack before degrading to 80% capacity. I didn't believe that for a minute. but it makes for good bench racing bragging.  ;)  For the standard 2017 DS model the brochure claims 331,000 miles. My daughter's 2014 S (manufactured in December 2013) with PT seems to have retained the same range and performance as when the bike was new after 8 years of riding.  :)

You probably can believe it as long as the bike is only ridden very slowly for its entire life. More battery with less load means it should last a lot longer. Note that the 455k-mile spec was for city riding. That spec was for perfect conditions, not the real world. But perhaps not an outright lie as it probably is possible.

Who do you know who could ride any motorcycle for 455K miles at 20 mph?  No one that I know.   ;)

If they can figure out how much it degrades the battery under a certain load for so much time, it's just math from there. How accurate it is in the rear world is another question.

Of course, they are going to give the best spec possible.

Thumpalong, all 2013s had a battery recall.  You can call Zero and see if yours was ever replaced or not and when.
Mine was replaced in 2015 and the newer one is about gone now.

With just slow charging and no high-speed riding, I bet your battery pack will last a very long time.  ;)
