Newbie from Germany
« on: June 02, 2022, 04:23:57 PM »

Hi there!

It's Jay from Germany.
I am owning a Zero SR/F since February, it is my first motorbike since making my license more than 30 years ago.
So, yeah, I am an old fart  ;D

Have a nice day, everyone!

Hey,
just noticed noone welcomed you into the forum. Welcome!
Great that you decided to go electric, even after 30 years of regular bikes.

Best regards from Stuttgart!

Thanks a lot for the welcome, but as it looks now I will be gone.

The pre-owned Zero SR/F I bought at a local dealer in February had a defect battery in April which Zero is unable to exchange.
In April the new battery was advised for end of May.
End of May it was advised next week.
The week after that it was advised next week.
The week after that it was advised next week...

So, under the German Sachmängelgewährleistung I returned the bike to the dealer on Wednesdy who paid be my money back minus a fee for the use.
Btw, then the new battery was still not in sight!

All in all, owning this defective Zero for about half a year cost me a couple of grands.
Driving electric is fun for sure, but owning bikes manufactured by companies without customer service is not.

Bye bye and I wish you all that you do not experience what I did.
Have an always safe trip!

Hi Jay,

I'm sorry you had so much trouble with the bike. The Sachmängelgewährleistung is great and all, but afaik it doesn't mean you're getting a refund for pointless insurance premiums, registration fees etc. I guess that's where your losses come from?

Anyway, all the best from a probably even older fart (or "noch älterem Sack" to teach the folks here some German  ;D). I hope your next bike will cause you less trouble.

Jay,

Ich stimme zu – echt schade.

Könnte man wegen Sachmangel nicht auf Schadensersatz verklagen?...

Don’t let Zero’s poor customer support turn you off of electric motorcycles! You’ll never talk to an Energica owner who has had these kinds of customer service inadequacies. Even in New Zealand, which has no Energica dealers, they shipped out a replacement main battery fuse and walked the owner through the process of replacing it to get him back on the road.
