I heard a CBS national news report this morning that in Europe electric vehicles are now outselling diesel cars each year and have now reached 20% of the new car market. ICE vehicles still have 40% of new car sales.

I was only mildly interested in an EV (car) until I got my SR/S.  After owning my ZERO I am now sure that my next car will be electric.  Will not happen this year, but 2023 looks like a real possibility for me.

I realize that electric will not work for everyone, but it sure seems perfect for my needs and my ZERO, even though not perfect, has helped convince me.

Every report I read places Tesla (and most EV cars) near the bottom on reliability.  It's ironic since the proponents of EV's tout less moving parts and maintenance.  In reality, that may not be so.  Tesla's latest fiasco with heat pumps is not encouraging.

This is something I'm willing to take a chance on with a motorcycle.  It's not my main mode of transportation, less investment, warm weather only; and besides a big battery, has less electronic gizmos to go wrong compared to a car (although Zero still has their fair share).

I'm not sure what my first EV car will be, but I'm certainly not a fan of manufacturers including the kitchen sink in their cars.  I already despise Mercedes and BMW for their overengineering, but that seems to be the norm on most EV cars.  I look forward to what Toyota and Honda come up with in the future.

If I lived in an area that got really cold I would not consider an EV at this time.  I have the same gripe about cars having too much 'stuff' built into them.  Do not need auto-pilot, over the top built-in entertainment systems, etc and really want manual controls as opposed to touch screens.

However, I like the basic concept of an electric car.  When, not if, I buy I will be looking for just three things, reliability, durability, and 300 mile plus range in moderate temperatures at normal cruising hyw speeds.

I live on the west coast and know a couple of Tesla owners and they are extremely happy with the their cars but acknowledge that there are some rough spots for a car in that price range, however they would buy again.
