And this includes new batteries. I just received an email from Zero and here is what it said:

For Nav I've got an Ultimate Addons phone holder, my Pixel 4a, and Bluetoothed to my lid, and it'll come with me when I sell the bike, and I already had the phone, so not sure I'd really consider that particular add-on as good value for money.
Reverse would probably be good for some people (I don't need it myself though), but charging for it...? Seriously?

The 15.6kWh pack is a pleasant little bump - I'd love 10% more range but of course, not enough to p/x for a whole new bike! I'm waiting until it's 21kWh or I'll get an Energica.

Extra charging speed makes sense (does it do 14kW with the Charge Tank?) if the battery's got bigger.

I guess the idea is to buy the bike with as least amount of s/w features as you like and add anything else as an add-on. Personally, having a phone and the bike screen can get distracting and i would prefer to have it all in one place.
Having said that, the add-on's make sense for software features but may not be much for hardware unlocks. I would prefer it to be an actual 14.4kWh and be lighter than being s/w limited. But it does make sense for manufacturing, where you wont need to assemble multiple configurations of battery packs and wont probably need different mounting points on the frame. That way Zero can produce more bikes and still cater to various price based configurations. Even though you carry some dead weight around maybe the longevity will be better? it has better cooling and weighs about 6 pounds lesser.

I just noticed that the Bosch stability control is not standard on the new SR.... OMG fools. That's a safety feature that will keep their customers alive and buying more bikes. Now that *is* short-sighted.

I get the feeling that Zero has been watching BMW's method of marketing their motorcycles. They offer a low base price to get the customer into the showroom and then only offer expensive factory-installed upgrades on the bikes that are actually available in the dealership without the customer needing to special order the "stripper" and wait six months for it to be built and arrive. Something almost no customer will do. They suck it up and spring for the expensive loaded model so that they don't have to wait, making the both the factory and the dealer happy.   

BMW does offer factory firmware downloads that allow you to use certain features that are already built into the bike, like different engine power programming, a quick-shifter, the ability to safely brake while cornering, etc. but at a cost in the hundreds of dollars for each firmware download.  Another example is my KTM Duke 390.  If you want to fork over another $300, you can get the bike's quick-shifter to function via nothing but a firmware download. Otherwise you will have to continue to use the clutch to shift. From what I hear, owners of Teslas are well aware of this marketing strategy.

I bet Zero hired a marketing consultant that has advised them how to price their motorcycles to generate the most profit for both the factory and their dealers (which might be receive the biggest benefit from this marketing shell game.  )

Feh.  No SR/S in red?  Pass... nothing in these announcements makes me want to trade in my stone-reliable and practical 2018 S model with 13kWh battery and 6kW Charge Tank.

I checked out the new models on Zero's website and am kind of confused. What is the difference between the SR/F and the new SR chassis? Are the only changes the Cyber III+ and battery upgrades? And if that is the case, why not just add them to the SR/F platform? To my eye the F and R sure look a lot alike, other than some slight changes in styling. Am I missing something that makes the R chassis different from the F.

If it was me, I would have gone for ADV styling, which is currently all the rage in the market, to offer the buyer more of a visible choice between the F and S platforms.

Well, I think you will admit that the nomenclature is confusing. As a customer you would think that the SR/F might be the more premium model than just an "SR".

I would have just made this "SR" the base SRF so there would be more differentiation for the Premium model.
But maybe marketing likes to quote a bigger number of models available.

Even the SR still requires a full A licence, if that's what you were getting at. The old SR (and the current DSR) are able to be ridden on a lower A2 licence due to having a slightly lower continuous power output.
