How to remove a power pack / modular battery on a Zero FX
« on: October 02, 2021, 09:03:27 AM »

Hello!

I just got my first motorcycle ever and am so excited. It's a Zero FX. I've looked on the manual online and through forums but can't seem to find a step by step process for removing the modular batteries to charge in another location. Someone said it needed a good knee wack to get out but those were the only details? Were they being literal? I've used the little key to remove the cage but I don't know what to do next. I also read it can be done without tools. Do I just need to pull harder or push from the opposite side? I know it's a lot of work having to haul it around to charge but I do need to know how to do it in case I can't park next to an outlet. My apartment garage doesn't have many. Anyway, if someone could tell me in detail how to remove it and put it back I'd be so grateful.

Thanks!

This sounds like something a video would be good for.

Ok so it looks like it goes back in pretty easily. I wish they had shown how they loosened it so it could just slide out like that. Mine is fresh off the factory and feels like it's attached to something else. It just won't budge. I'm leaving a comment in that video asking how and maybe they'll reply.

Thanks for sharing!

Ha, I was on that ride and talked to him at lunch. I was on my KTM though. :)

The large electrical connector disconnects when you remove the battery, and it takes some force to get it started. The way I do it is go to the opposite side and press on the bottom with my thumbs while leveraged with my fingers pulling from below (kind of a pinching motion).

Here, I just made a video for you.
