Interesting. I just checked the recall information for my gf's 2020 Bolt. It says:
Quote
Repair Description:

The remedy will be the replacement of defective battery modules in the recall population. Until the updated recall remedy is performed, customers should take the following interim steps: 1.Customers should set their vehicle’s high-voltage battery system to a 90% state of charge limitation using Target Charge Level mode. If customers are unable to successfully make these changes, or do not feel comfortable making these changes, customers should visit their dealer to have these adjustments completed. 2.Additionally, we ask that customers charge their vehicle more frequently and avoid depleting their battery below approximately 70 miles (113 KM) of remaining range, where possible. 3.Out of an abundance of caution, customers should continue to park their vehicles outside immediately after charging and not leave their vehicles charging indoors overnight.

Recall Status: INCOMPLETE. REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE

"replacement of defective battery modules" doesn't sound like they're going to replace the whole battery, although I have no idea how they are supposed to find defective modules without taking them apart, thus destroying them. More importantly, a solution doesn't appear to be available yet. @DonTom, has your dealership specifically referred to the recall?

I just found out this is a BS "repair"  until they have the real fix.

I do NOT need or want the "fix" they are going to do tomorrow, and I just now told them so via email. But I assume they have to do it anyway.

Tomorrow's BS "fix"  is to make it impossible for me to charge to above 90% SOC. I have mine set to stop charging at 85% SOC as it is.

I wish I knew this to begin with. I wouldn't be home here, I would be in Auburn and I would ignore their calls. I found out late this is just a BS "fix" that I do not need or want.

The only good point is tomorrow, they will bring me a copy of the contract that they forgot to give me.

I now have my Bolt contract. I mentioned I will post what it cost here.

The BS base price was $38,660.00.

The OTD price was $41,275.56, but that does NOT include the registration in NV (done much differently here in NV, done later by owner). So add $479.00 to that for the NV registration. So the total cost was $41,754.56,

So add on about 8% more to the BS price to get the real OTD price.

I got my Bolt back today from the BS recall. So now I will charge to 90% SOC limit instead of the 85% I was using.

As if this is really safer.

BTW, the drivers they use are not real employees at WWC. A couple of retired guys making a little extra cash, is what they use to pick up and deliver cars for recalls and such.

They believe the battery fires were cased by extra long charges. Charging from only having a few miles  range left and then charging all the way to full.

So the temporary fix is so I cannot charge to full, just up to 90%.

Not a big deal to me, I normally charge to just above 200 miles which is around 80% SOC anyway.

Are  there any guesses of when the real recalls (battery changes) will start?

GM is suing LG for still not being able to guarantee the batteries they're producing.

So no one knows.

Today, I just happened to park next to a shiny new black  Ford Mustang Mach-E EV. Looks very nice. I wonder what the main differences are between the Chevy Bolt and that Ford is.

I really didn't do any comparison shopping at all, but I really like my Bolt, despite the recall issue, which is not much of an issue to me anyway.

It shouldn't be an issue to anyone. The likelihood of the battery catching fire is vanishing low and it takes two separate manufacturing defects in the same cell. Not saying it's impossible, but then again, what is? Personally I have no issue parking my Model 3 and the SR/S next to my gf's Bolt in the same garage. It's not that there have been fires all over the place. Chevy just wants to make sure not to get into any more trouble than they already are.

I'm still surprised though that the news media is rather relaxed about it. They reported it and that was it. Had it been Tesla, they would've posted the stock price, how much it's gonna go down, theorized how many people will file lawsuits and what not.
But it's just a Chevy, so meh... who cares, really?

Chevy will advertise in those newspapers. Tesla won't so they are very easy for the news media  to go  after.

I also would not worry about the Bolt catching on fire. It remines me of other issues, such as around one in a million kids  die from having their tonsils removed. About one in a million hand grenades will explode as soon as the handle is released. Perhaps it's about one in a million 2022 Chevy  Bolts that catch fire. It's just that one has  already, which they believe was caused from charging to 100%  SOC from around 2 or 3 SOC, along with the other two issues in the same cell. What are the odds?

But mine has already had the first recall. All it does is stop me from charging past 90% SOC. Not an issue to me. I was only charging to 85% anyway, and that was what I set my charge to stop the day I got it home. The info about the recall was on my screen in the morning. I assume I was the very last person in the USA to buy a Chevy Bolt before the recall. I would not have been able to buy it if I went there a day later, as they stopped all sales on Bolts for a while. I am not sure about now, as they are now doing the 90% charge  recall.  But even if they are selling them, I assume there are not many buyers.  Most buyers  would want to get this issue over with. But that term "most" often leaves me out.  :)

The fires are somewhere between one in 30k to 100k right now.  About a third of the fires I'm not sure if they've been verified as relating to the failure or not.

Speaking of fires: A new wildfire broke out near Auburn at 3pm yesterday. It is called the Bridge Fire. The fire is not expected to approach the city of Auburn per news reports last night. CalFire was all over it yesterday and probably will have it under control soon. So far no information regarding the fire is being reported this morning, so it likely has not become a big issue for the local community.

Yeah, I hear it is in the Forest Hill area.

Seems Auburn is about the only heavily forested area in CA not to burn down- - -  yet.

All my favorite riding areas around here for my Zero SR are burning down. Same for much  of the Reno area--but mostly in CA, but still near Reno.

I used to stop for lunch a lot in a restaurant in Greenville, CA.    Now is burnt down.

Juan Brown did a great job coving the Oreville dam story & now wildfires (along with his usual aviation story’s).
Here’s his report on the Bridge fire.

Here’s his report on the Bridge fire.
I have riden over that bridge countless times. Very nice riding area for a Zero or an Energica.  Go over that bridge and head for SugarPine Lake and then down the Iowa Hills to Colfax. As soon as you get into Colfax, there are CCS and J1772 charge stations less than a mile away.  But they are well hidden behind the restaurant

Very beautiful area--at least it was.

All my favorite riding areas are now burnt down, both near here as well as near Auburn, CA.

I have a brother that lives about a mile South of the Grass Valley airport surrounded by a lot of timber (fingers crossed).

A few years ago my wife & I were chased out of our house at 1AM by the fast moving Woosley Fire.
Favorable winds plus the home owners association open space disking saved the entire track.
