Light on specs, anyone know what they're talking about?

They're calling it EMCE which stands for Energica Mavel Co-Engineered. You can find specs here: https://www.energicamotor.com/energica-ego-electric-motorcycle/#emce

The abridged version is they've merged the cooling systems for the motor and inverter. Picture for reference:

The new motor and inverter together weigh about 22 lbs less, and they've reduced the maintenance intervals from 6k miles to 18k miles for fluid changes. Additionally the new motor makes up to 126kW from 107, aka 169HP from 147. That's a substantial boost. Finally, the new motor is more efficient at high speeds, meaning if you're hammering the throttle with the new motor and inverter you'll get a few extra miles compared to the exact same behavior on the previous gen motor/controller.

The new EMCE powertrain will take over on all models.

edit- it should be noted that the new Ego+ model now lists at 573 lbs. For reference, the LiveWire is listed at 549 lbs. The Zero SR/S Premium lists at 516 lbs excluding optional Rapid Charger Module or Power Tank.

Why would anybody want more power than even my SS9-?  It's scary fast uphill as is, IMO.

Reminds me when I test rode a Tesla performance model. It had so much acceleration I felt it was totally useless away from  a race track.

I have no need to wear tires out in a quarter of a mile. Why would anybody, other than on a race track?

Because some people haven't outgrown the necessity of being the fastest kid on the block.

EV motors that are capable of a better power curve are also more reliable, because efficiency comes from the same maintenance of high tolerances that durability does.

As they heat up, they go out of tolerance, which is the physical limit. But that also means they're less durable, as the flexing degrades loops and connections and the heat breaks down the magnetic crystals.

So reducing this, making it respond less to heat, gives both power and durability.  And efficiency.

What they didn't even fully design their own system?  A bike that goes faster AND has better range?  What kind of fools do they think they're dealing with?  Using one cooling system to cool multiple components, that's both crazy and impossible.
I say there is no way I go into a dealer today 6/29 and buy this magic bike so it's clearly VAPORWARE.

Right Morgan?    ;)

Yes, it must just continue to suck to be me, constantly being wrong about things all the time. I wish I, too, had a Big Brain. Alas.

You don't know how much I enjoyed typing that.
All those new and improved approaches to faster and farther results being what you lambasted from Damon.
And no, you still can't buy a Damon right now that's true so I'll save you that response.

For the record I fully respect your knowledge and experience and contributions to the community.
I just think your being a bit of a curmudgeon about Damon.

As for Energica, Bravo.  I think I may have an answer as to what Sam is getting now.

Here is a link to another article and press release regarding this new motor: https://electricmotorcycles.news/emce-the-new-electric-motor-of-energica-motor-company/

More power, better cooling and lighter weight. What is not to like?  ;)

Seeing Sam's YouTube video on routine maintenance is what convinced me I DON'T want an Energica.  Let's see if this design fixes those flaws and puts Energica back on the radar.
