An article in my newspaper the other day mentioned that California is going to need 1.5 million charging stations to accommodate the influx of new EVs after 2030. Right now there are something like 150K stations, so they have a long way to go before there will be enough charging stations to keep EV owners happy. What no one mentions is who will install these stations, who will own them, who will maintain them and where they will be located (no doubt in a group near heavily traveled routes). Details, details, that neither the news media nor the politicians like to think about much.   ::)

Speaking of politics... Another factor to consider is the auto & oil industry are private/public enterprises.  Profit margin made Ford and Exxon build their empires.  Electricity today is mostly created by the government.  For better or worse, they're going to have to step up their game.

All in all it sounds like an investment opportunity in the making to me.

The big issue is where they will be located. I don't even want to see any more CCS chargers on I-80 in CA.   I would like to see many on I-80 in Nevada as well as on Hwy 395. And HWY 70 in CA. I could go on all day like this.

And every location that has any type of charger should also have a J-plug.  It pisses me off when I see CCS chargers in places such as BridgePort, CA with no J-1772. Same in and Fernley  NV. And Lake Topaz, NV, and LoveLock, NV  , where they only have Tesla Superchargers. J-plugs should be cheap to install and every EV can use them, even if slow. They don't even have any chargers at the Wal*Mart in Susanville.

I think the main problem is too much BS to get things done in the USA.  Places such as Beijing, China, one city, has about as many charge stations as the entire USA. Two years ago, China was installing more than a thousand EV chargers per DAY!

Yeah, definitely need more j-plugs.  Level 1 charging is essential for smaller vehicles as well as better than being plugged into CCS or running on battery while sitting around in the cold or heat.

I wish Plugshare had a way to turn off level one (120 VAC) outlets. They treat level one and level two (240 VAC) outlets the same. And in most cases, not mentioned which is which, unless mentioned in the check-ins. And if it's not mentioned in the check-ins, we often have to guess.

On a road trip, I would consider calling  for a tow truck before I would waste time with 120 VAC / 1.3KW charge rates. 3 KW is bad enough on my Energica,  but at least it can help a little to get to the next CCS station.

You can turn off Level 1 110V chargers in Plugshare:
Click the three horizontal bar icon next to "Search for a Charging Location" at the top left.
Click Filters. If you don't see "Wall" listed, click "Show All." Click "Wall" to toggle the green checkmark on/off.

But I do want it to show 240 VAC outlets. That turns them both off.

IOW, show this one, (240 VAC)  but not this one (120 VAC).

The solution posted by Dalek works for me. I never see 120V outlets on the map..

Oh, yeah, the 'wall' category includes any non nema 14-50 outlets.  Certainly they should actually record the type of outlet and voltage.

But you can sort some outlets by kW so... As plugshare to actually have kW ratings, too?

Yep, my mistake. I never noticed there was a separate entry for "14-50R" and "Wall".   I don't know how I missed that.  i just turned off the "wall" and it works!

Other than it turns off the 240 VAC outlet here. But that is a vary rare "wall" outlet and the only one I know like that. Besides being on a pole and not a "wall". See the last photo there.

Thanks!
