In today's news from New Zealand, it is reported that the "Founders Edition"    of the Streetdog has been sold out. Catchy name, though. That's the one Sam did a video on.  That storage is certainly not for dogs.  It's for stuff not animals.  Kind of a hipster toy but to each his own.

3KW motor, 30mph top speed, 100km range (which need to be proven, since they omit to mention battery capacity), 62kg weight.

Not a motorcycle. A website calling it that doesn't make it so.
Far closer to an s-pedelec e-bicycle in capabilities; officially moped-class in NZ. In the EU, this would be a category L1e vehicle (moped), possibly L3e if it can exceed 45 km/h.

Sam says it's more an e-bike.  There's a space for mopeds.  You certainly wouldn't want to ride something that light at freeway speeds.

That wasn't criticism at Sam, but at the website above which failed to give a single piece of actual information about the vehicle in an entire item about it, not even a link. Lazy "motojournalist".
Of course there's space for e-mopeds -- they could probably replace 10%-15% of the entire US car fleet. However, technologically, they're a completely solved problem.

Over half the stories on motorcycle websites referring to electric motorcycles are about such models.
Nothing interesting about them for me given I'm not actively in the market, so I'd prefer coverage of them to be labeled  so I can avoid it.

"e-bike" is an ambiguous term I try to avoid, because without context it isn't clear whether it means "e-bicycle" or "e-motorcycle"

I like to start with seeing the specs and if that part looks interesting, I read the rest. If no specs are shown, I see no reason to read anything else.

More than half of car trips are under three miles, and the vast majority don't carry more than their driver.  And most cargo is a bag of groceries or equivalent.

Bikes could replace a huge amount of trips in the US.  More if we actually built infrastructure for them.

I think she is right. Most trips a few miles, but less than 40 miles per day total. At least for retired people like me.


But I am sure my total in cars is MUCH less than 40 miles per day, but most of my car trips are a few miles at the most.  I ride motorcycles a lot more than drive cars.

Nope, under 3.

Grocery store, school, corner store, takeout... these are the most common trips.  And most people live under three miles from them.

It's why not having a decent market in a neighborhood has such a drastic effect on local nutrition.

Even I, who lives in a rural area, make about half my trips to the grocery store, which is .9 miles away.  (I make more trips now that I have the bike!)
