Royal Enfield Photon EV conversion
« on: January 31, 2021, 04:20:44 AM »

Not the nicest looking conversion that I have seen and the price is a bit steep for its performance and specifications. But it is a good try. However I am not sure how well it will sell:  https://www.carandbike.com/news/electric-royal-enfield-photon-unveiled-2210811

It certainly looks it's part! I bet it won't sell much in UK or inO India with that price tag.
I must say that it's a very unconventional choice to have a water cooled hub motor. The coolant pipes probably runs around where the chain/belt is supposed to be.
But fans to cool the radiator?!

130km range on 10kWh battery?  What speed is that range?

10kW motor?  How does that compare to a Zero?  That puts it squarely in A1 territory but it's so heavy!

Article says 85 kph, seems reasonable.

I wasn't sure, from my reading.

This was a one off custom job, by a custom shop for one customer.

This will never see "production" because it was never in the least intended for that.

It was a commissioned project bike.

So numbers and parts used and specs are probably very inaccurate - unless you speak to the shop who did the job.

That said I watched the one hour episode of them building this and they did a solid job.
