Adding locations to Plugshare
« on: December 13, 2020, 01:24:31 AM »

I have been to OPCNM before, but I have always ran my generator to charge my Zero while here in the past. I do not know if they are new, or if I just never noticed the four AC outlets here before yesterday.

So I added the site to Plugshare. See here. And I checked in with photos.

Whenever anybody finds an outlet that is not already listed on PlugShare, please add the location yourself, if you can charge from it. That could be very helpful to others.

This location is very important because there is no place to charge around here within range of my Zero DS (except in Mexico). Lukeville, AZ  has no outlets anywhere, which is about 7 miles south of here on the USA side of the Mexican border.

I sure am glad I found these outlets. They are really for running & charging computers and such. They also have USB in these outlets.  There is no electricity at all to the RV campsites. And there is a notice on these outlets that we cannot plug our RVs into them (would take  a very long  extension cord to do such anyway).

This place (Twin Peaks Campground) has quiet hours so I can only run my Generator from 0800 to 1000 hrs and 1600 to 1800 hrs. But now I can charge my Zero at any time without even running my Generator.

I discovered another MUCH needed new location today, that I just added to Plugshare myself.

I discovered it as I was riding an ICE bike. My Triumph Trophy SE. Now I can take the same ride on any of my electrics because of this new location.

It is at the new Nugget Casino in Silver Springs, NV. Has two each, J-1772, CHAdeMO and CCS.

The MANY Tesla Destination chargers at the closed Recharge Restaurant are all active as well. This is around a mile or so  from the Tesla battery plant. The Chinese place right across the street is very good, IMO. Especially for being in the middle of nowhere in Nevada.

Anybody else know of a charge location that is NOT listed on Plugshare? I will be willing to add such myself, if I can get all the info. from those who are not a member of Plugshare or don't know how to add new locations or are too lazy to or whatever. I just want to help keep Plugshare useful to all of us who often recharge on the road as I do.

I try not to add anything that I don't know the owner wants to put up.

Well, I also won't bother to add the restricted ones. I only add the ones we can all use.

Also, if I find one listed that doesn't mention as restricted, but really is, I mention it for that location. I already have done such a few times. For an example, I have found some to be in apartment complexes in Sparks, NV listed on Plugshare. They were behind a locked gate that only the residents can open. So I mention that on Plugshare that it is restricted, but isn't showing as such.

Perhaps most of the EV owners do not even know Plugshare exists, so we're just helping them out.

Even the ones I added yesterday cost money to use. The property owner gets some, if not all  of that money. The price to use is usually set by the property owner.

And even the ones that are restricted can be added, just mention such. But I see no reason to do such. Those who can use those will know anyway, so it serves no purpose to add those on Plugshare. But there are many such restricted stations already shown on Plugshare. But we can configure Plusshare to only show what we want to show, such as having the ones we cannot use not show. I use that all the time, such as I do NOT want Tesla Supoerchargers & restricted to show when I am using it for my motorcycles.

A few months ago CalTrans announced they added a bunch of free DC stations along Hwy 99 and one on Hwy 5. I looked up the addresses and entries had not been made on PlugShare. I put the address for the Kettleman City one in and marked it more or less as unknown.

The very next day it was fully populated with pictures of users at the station and full details. I thought that was awesome.

There's a flag now for restricted use stations.

Make sure to check it when you find locked ones ^-^

Good job!

I have discovered there are more places to charge, open to all, than are listed on PlugShare. As well as a few listed where the public canNOT charge. But at least you and me are doing our best to keep it accurate. We need as many as possible to help and then we may just find we can go almost anywhere on our electric cycles.

Yes, but it helps when they're identified properly.

Yes, but it helps when they're identified properly.
And when they are not, it's our job to make the corrections.
