This seems like not enough cells to really do much, but it's an interesting thought-experiment.

My son-in-law just installed solar panels on the roof of my daughter's chicken coop.  He has them hooked up to 4 100 Ah batteries. I think he plans to add more batteries. He plans to use the batteries to power a few appliances in their home when PG&E turns the power off, just to be safe.

It's a great idea in concept but the efficiency of solar is just not there yet. A full size 1.5 m^2 panel puts out 325w in perfect sun. Charge your cell phone, sure! Charge your EV, not quite...

If he's having problems with shade, then he's wired his cells into too big of strips or should switch to something like amorphous silicon which doesn't care about shading as much as monocrystalline.  Tho they're super fragile (I have a bunch).
