Yeah...that's not helpful. Engineers have to work with the technologies that are available, making what compromises are possible to achieve the best possible bike. Knowing what the public prioritizes helps them make compromises to get the most desirable bike with today's technology. The ideal bike will remain impossible for the foreseeable future.

That's what they said about Teslas, and then, what do you know... boom, Model 3. A Model 3 mysteriously only costs twice as much as an SR/F (and not far off a Livewire or Energica!) but contains 10 times the materials, 5 times the battery capacity, has 4 times the power, and charges at 5 times the rate... what gives? Surely the battery, motor, and BMS in a Zero don't cost anything remotely near £20000 because the rolling chassis could be made for under £1000 (see: KTM 390)

Technology we have today can only be so small or so inexpensive.

The lack of two wheels doesn't make the motorcycle cost a massive amount less, since the same labor needs to go into assembling each of the parts.  The bulk of the cost is the number of subsystems, not the literal bulk of the subsystems.  The number equals labor, machine steps; it's the same reason a small drink costs most of the price of a large.

An SR/F and a 390 Duke aren't comparable in the slightest, even an S is above that (not saying the KTM is bad, I have the 125 Duke and think it's a great bike). A cast aluminium frame is more expensive than a welded steel trellis, the fully adjustable Showa suspension is more expensive than the basic non-adjustable WP, the wheels are going to be more expensive (more material and fewer made), the brakes are more expensive, and pretty much everything else is made in far fewer numbers and I assume in America, or at least assembled there (the 390 is assembled in India and some parts aren't made in Austria).

Advertisers work hard at stopping people from making choices in their best interests.  Don't give them any more help they don't need it.

Put the money that's wasted in ads into design.  That's what Tesla has done and it's worked pretty good so far.  That's what the OP wants.  What about motorcycle brand (image) X makes you want to spend more money on it?  That's why we have a $30k Livewire guys.  Image.

Of course a strong brand is usually more expensive than an almost unknown one, but that's not only due to advertising costs. Anyway, you can't think that big companies such as honda, ducati or harely will just stop branding their products, otherwise the market will be undifferentiated and they won't make money.

Anyway, ours is only an academic research, we don't have interest in selling. So maybe we will find out that brands are not important at all for electric motorcycles, who knows...

You can look up how far Honda dropped in Consumer Reports reliability ratings a few years ago and see a company that was branching out too far and losing focus on the engineering and design value that people expected from the brand.
To put it another way resting on their laurels because surveys told them hey had people convinced they were very reliable.

Well maybe they will use the research as a starting point, and that would be good for us since it would mean that the results are valuable. But I really doubt that they would take any corporate decision without doing a proper market research on their target customers.
In the end, it is normal that companies want to find ways to sell more, otherwise no one would develop new products. But people also sometimes prefers companies that are straightforward and provide good value for money, it depends.

Ahah sorry for that... but that is good for our research because it means that, at least in your case, the appreciation for the brand can be transferred to an electric model 👍
