To be fair, Zero has pretty much delivered every new model I can remember them announcing at the promised time...

The NORDIC SAGA continues. "The video inside" is the same video I post earlier in this thread that started this whole dialog. |

https://insideevs.com/news/798393/donut-lab-solid-state-debunked-lithium-ion-battery/ The vid linked inside this article is worth watching. Once I sincerely hoped that Donut Lab was telling the truth, but the indications a not pointing in that direction. Even if I had the money to buy a Verge with SSB right now, I would have to wait more than a year for delivery acc. to Verge's website. That tells its own story, I think. I am 100 % sure, in about 5 years there will be a Hollywood picture about this. |

Even though it's boat cable, which has a higher rating than standard building cable, 80 amps is pushing it, unless it's a fairly short run, like a few feet jump to a starter or only intermittent use. otherwise it's typically rated at around 60, would be derated to around 50 or so in an engine compartment due to temperatures being hotter. Given it's boat cable, as you claim, it is being rated using marine standards ABYC instead of normal NEC standards for buildings. nec would rate it only around 30 amps for open 10ga wire. Sorry, I misstated the ampacity of the cable. It's as you say, 60 amps. Remember that the max current draw was 35 amps WOT in sport mode, but in the custom mode I always use, it is only 20 amps max. Of course I'm using an Anderson connector. The SBS75X connector. I use 2 of the small pins to connect the power to the contactor so plugging it in is just one operation. No mistakes. There is plenty of air under the fairing where the wires run for battery cooling. The fairing is open in the front and there is a scoop down low that directs air to the controller and up through the battery so plenty of cooling for the wiring but the compartment that the battery is actually in is not ventilated. I wondered if this would be a heat problem, but I rode 100 miles today and the only thing that was warm at all was the contactor coil. We will see what happens this weekend with 95-degree weather coming. I could always punch a couple of holes in the box and install a 12v computer fan, but I don't really think I'll need it |

So here we are, it's june and Energica is supposed to be shipping bikes by now right?Has anything EV related ever been available on the date promised? People are still waiting for their 2020 Tesla Roadster. Now promised for 2028. In 2028, I wonder what the new date will be. But with Energica, maybe after our lifetimes. But I doubt it will be that soon. -Don- Auburn, CA |

I have been saying for years that there is a lot of vaporware with EV batteries.
But the SSB was the one that fooled me. As they say, a lie repeated enough times becomes the truth (at least for quite a while). And I fell for the lie. But at least I didn't invest in the lie. -Don- Auburn, CA |

which would probably explain why your friends bike is still on order and not being shipped.
battery tech has gotten a little better since this came out, just nowhere near the claims they made. perhaps they ship with a.. whatever battery they currently have?? maybe claim, sorry it's old tech but we thought you'd rather get your bike now rather than wait months and months, possibly even adding a lame claim such as., when it does come available, we'll ship a battery to you at a great price!! this way they still get your money. be interesting to see how it plays out. aaron |

well, to be totally honest. if this is true and you brought the pack down to basically zero.
the battery manufacturer will tell you, the cell is shot, get a new one, due to liability issues which means energica will tell you the same thing.. those same liability issues. can you resurrect them, yes, will it be safe. maybe, no guarantee, which is why anyone at this point, any instructions they give you will be do this at your own risk. aaron |

Ouch, that’s not a fun one.
I don’t think I’d start experimenting too much if the bike is completely dark now. I’d probably try the basic checks first, then get Energica or a dealer involved before digging any deeper. Please update the thread if you find out what caused it. I’d like to know what the proper way is to wake one back up after sitting in LPR for that long. |
