Hey thanks! Maybe someday I can learn a few things from your experience before I start. I'm years off from that though... my last big project was replacing all the windows in the house, every one, one at a time, on my off days. Its a decent size two story house. Took three years to finish. Now all the paint for the exterior cladding repair and painting, and tools for that stuff are still sitting in one of the spare rooms where I left it all last spring. My next project. Stalled from a year ago. I'm just super busy. I'm in Longwood, central Florida.

Florida homeowners, are you ready to go solar?
STFU
SKIP
Their product was financing. The solar install was  a vector to do it. Their carrot was the government incentive that gets consumed in the financing.
Florida man here. I know two people already who had to remove it from their roof because of massive leaking, or insurance problems.
Because the roof is an ideal place for a thing you have to routinely clean.🙄
Someday I will set up my own system, but too busy now.
I have the PERFECT place for it... a flat roof over a lanai adjacent to my pool, that is accessible from the second story by a door from one of the bedrooms.
I use about 12kw daily with my SRS so that might fit together nicely.

I want them to succeed, because I want the supply chain for my SRS to exist.
That being said, that article is written in a very careful way, with percentages.
A year over year increase in sales of 80% for example, could mean they only sold 10 bikes in all of 2024 but for 2025 they sold 18.

Thanks, I was waiting before letting it update. The site says it was updated 2-4-2026:

2020+ Cypher III
2020+ SR/F & SR/S + 2022-25 SR + 2023+ DSR/X + 2024+ S & DS & DSR
MBB V44, BMU V19
New: Power management of main power pack optimized for transport and seasonal storage.
Fix: Transitioning logic to limp state is now more predictable.
Fix: Refined BMU voltage measurements to prevent false fault triggering.
Fix: Odometer format refined to follow international diagnostic standards.
Fix: Refined BMM initialization of critical settings during startup.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Zero DSRX Belt Tension and Alignment
« on: January 31, 2026, 09:37:13 AM »
My only experience with this is just this one bike, my 2020 srs. I've put 73k miles on so I've done a lot of belt adjustment and a few replacements.

I've learned:
1) Krikets are not repeatable or consistent with each other. I bought two, gave up, and use the phone app.
2) The sprocket centering isn't perfect, so there is a repeatable point in each 360 of rotation of the rear wheel where its highest, and lowest. I was able to rotate my rear sprocket two holes over and mitigate that some.
3) The tension raises 8-10hz when torqued from what you measure when the axle is loosened to adjust.
4) I stopped using the app to periodically check the tension and just use the twist method. If you know what a tensioned belt feels like, you have your reference. If it feels loose, its time.
5) It doesn't seem to matter if the belt touches the fence at the rear. I look at the front sprocket and center it there. That the way I run them and it doesn't make noise or abrade the belt, and they go the full 25k.
6) What I see on 25k belts is - once they are off - bend it backwards so you are curving the opposite way it normally bends, and you will see big cracks in between each belt tooth. They are very hard to see when the belt is on. 25k seems about right for replacement.

Usually I set it around 65-70Hz, which can accommodate the rise and fall of the tension as the wheel turns. I have never broken a belt.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with getting yourself a separate battery tender, ideally one designed for lithium batteries that doesn't bring it up to full and keep it there. Also, something else to consider for winter, this is the time of year when people load up the accessory port lines with things like heated gear. The DC-DC is only a 300W unit, and the 12v battery is there to sort of bolster it. The point is if you're pulling 300+ Watts during winter riding the 12v battery is actually being discharged and can't refill itself until the load on the 12v lines is reduced.

I'm not saying you're doing that, I'm just pointing out additional complications during times of cold weather riding.
I had that problem because of extra lighting, and a horn set that draws 12a when active. It might have contributed to the DCtoDC having problems and having to be replaced. I bought one used from a breaker in CA.
Also the 12v battery lost most of its capacity and I had to replace that too.
I added a separate additional 12v battery ( i think its sold for storing solar power )  in the saddle bag that is the power source for those accessories now. Its not connected to the motorcycle at all, a separate system.
No more problems, but I do have to connect to charger to that battery every couple weeks; something else to keep track of.

I don't have any insight to your situation but my bike updates that thing maybe once or twice a day. Remote connect isn't useful.
I may get a text at work telling me my bike finished charging, and that was YESTERDAY. It doesn't update enough to know what the real SOC  is, its real location, or any events. Works fine on Bluetooth except scheduled charging. Cant set the times in it.
Maybe the cell module sucks, maybe the app, maybe both. I'm a huge fan of my bike and riding it daily but that part is... a little... disappointing. No big deal.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Power tank upgrade
« on: November 26, 2025, 09:20:56 AM »
I just had a power tank installed with my new LI 14.4 warranty replacement battery pack a few months ago.
The main pack and the power tank do not "empty out" at the same rate. What happens is, always between 15-22% SOC while I'm riding, the bikes acceleration slows like its running out of power, shortly thereafter a banner appears "WARNING POWER PACK DEPLETED" , it disconnects the Power Tank, and then the acceleration goes back to normal and I continue on with just the main pack. The newer manuals for SRS, the 2025 for example, say this is considered normal.
They work in tandem but not a precise parallel.
IDK what this system would do if the main pack was depleted before the power tank. Maybe the reverse?

Thanks for your help! That works. Didn't know about "swipe gestures"
To use the Zero app, I'll switch to swipe temporarily. Its not often needed anyway.
The app worked with the buttons scheme up until the UI update, so they probably should fix it.

I don't like the idea of them having phones as an essential part of the bike's interface. In my opinion they should have all options available on the motorcycle display. The way it is now, to keep customers happy they have to have resources for integrating the app with phones in current use, instead of focusing solely on making motorcycles.

As an aside my warranty replacement battery pack + power tank is AWESOME. Zero gets a lot of exposure from me as I ride a consistent  300+ miles weekly. People look and sometimes ask about it. The best commuter bike I've ever had.

At least on my phone, a Samsung S21FE.
It updated and now the little bar at the bottom is overlaid with the options bar for the Zero app and I cant make selections.
The Zero app still connects to the bike.
I sent an email to Zero support letting them know.

Thanks!

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: New Leadership at Zero
« on: November 01, 2025, 10:55:21 PM »
Hey Zero Im doing my part in the US as a kind of rolling advert. Will hit 70k miles this month.
People ask me what it is in traffic stops.
That being said, I have NEVER seen another SRS or SRF on the road in over 5 years of ownership
To be fair I've never seen a Guzzi or Energica either.

Good news a second AI summary told me there are NO fans inside it so that's the truth now.
Also turns out we have always been at war with Eastasia. I thought so!

14
In case anyone is curious, I learned today that the newer packs have a two part BMS cover, and the old ones have a one piece cover.
I also read they have fans inside for cooling an air channel inside the battery. An AI summary told me if those ever go bad the pack must be partially disassembled to get to them.
Sure hope they used some good fans.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: 2022 SR/S error 37; bike won't charge
« on: September 28, 2025, 05:05:44 AM »
My srs is older, a 2020. On mine there are two 3kw chargers. Yours may be a bit different. But on mine, there is a 2 wire pair connected to the chargers for communication. A white wire and blue wire about 18-22ga. They are wrapped in that black wire wrap and have a Deutsch  gray connector. The connections and wires are just to the right of the middle storage cubby, near its base, underneath the fairing. I really doubt this is the cause but but perhaps that connector is loose.

You just got the bike so probably haven't gotten to this level yet, but there is a way of querying the MBB through two pins in the OBD2 port, using a laptop, UART, and some free software. You can ask its configuration and see if it sees a charger present. There's a guide to that in this forum somewhere.

One easy thing you might try in the meantime if you didn't already is key the bike on, wait a minute, then connect the charging cable with the key still on.  Perhaps the charger is slow to report its presence but will after a delay.
