What I'm wondering is why I have also received this email all do I have an FXS 2020, or would there be some changes planned to be introduced in this software also.

The present version is in the mean will (besides bugs) unchanged since xx years but the world has continued so it could use some extra’s. I have a “little” list of personal improvements with at the top:
a.   A kind of cruise control or a lowering of the maximum speed parameter in de custom setting (max speed in european cities in 20mph!, its killing my bankaccount >:()
b.   A parameter in de App with which one could indicate the internal charger to stop loading at a certain level. :)
c.   Avoid the bike to reset the hibernation timing in wintertime if you turn on the key (which is request to know the left over charge). Better would be to use the action of the red engine-kill switch ;)
d.   ……

Well if anyone wants to talk about regen/mode settings, I wrote a thread about it:

Hi Crissa,

Most intresting thread but for re-aligning with the current thread, has the new firmware resulted in changes in your regen/mode matrix?
And if so, which elements are changed by this new firmware.

Best regards

I most of my town driving as us 10% power and 70% regen, as this is rather compatible with the traffic I hit in town, so it rather personal and related to driving in Brussels.

On the other hand when I drive somewhat more sporty I like to have only regen when applying the breaks in order to have full controle over my speed. I use only 10% regen on the first step (throttle handle) and 30% and the second level (first step front handle breaking). In this I have some small speed reduction in freewheel behind a car (in the slipsteam) but without the need to finetune the throttle handle to avoid breaking to much and losing contact. Personally I like this as it leaves me more attention to just reacting to the other drivers around. Again this is a very personal approach based mainly because i like to be able to freewheel behind others when driving sporty.

I do think we have all our preferences but it would be important to have the standard setting of ECO (less power but max regen) and SPORT (max power but little regen) being well opposite as we can't change them. The personal preference are in the custom settings.

I love driving these bikes, the power is that direct, it as being in a realtime video game

Huh, throttle regen on my bike is higher on Sport than Eco on my bike...

-Crissa

Does this behaviour has been witnessed by other Zero users of Gen2 bikes. As already mentioned, isn't logic nor fun to have high regen in the sport modes. Its a reason for avoiding this firmware update as het V33 version hadn't this effet, or at least not on my FXS 2020 bike.

If others could verify this on their bikes if they have already implemented the update it would be important information to all others as I do suppose I'm not the only one prefering 0.0% regen in sport mode to allow maximum control.

The new bike isn't attracting me, set apart from the new display. If it would be possible, I would directly want to swap mine of my FXS2020 with this new one but I doubt this display will be available as an accessoire for existing FXS models.

Personally I don't like the looks of the new head light, the make the motorcycle a little common, to common. On the other hand these are finally led lights which is more in line with the electric motorcycles message, maybe Zero is changing over to led throw out there range, would again an interesting upgrade possibility if provided.

Overal the good news for me is that de FX platform is still alive and been developed without mayor changes, so add least we can be sure of further support and maybe upgrade possibilities for the existing bikes

Hello,

Is it possible that this survey has been send to a limited number of owners as I haven't found any trace of it in my mailbox. I'm living in Europe (Belgium), maybe there is some delay in the sending of this survey in Europe.

It positive that Zero is requesting feedback from it current clients, I would be pleased to respond.

I wonder, as Zero has added this always active OSB2 port on the Zero's for Europe, in which way we coulded use this port to communicate with the motorcycle from distance or use it as a data collection point to drive by example a IFTTT script for the charging of the motorcycle to 80%, or monitor when the bike is charged?

I'm not a electronics or It specialist, but as we can't avoid loosing 1% of load each day, why not using this in a positive way for us as users?

I would personally be very happy to have 2 extra functions on my 2020 FXS, being:
  • to be able to see the present loading of my bike by using a web app on my phone ad distance
  • to be able to stop automatically the charging of my bike when I'm at work without the need to go to the garage. I haven't always the time or I forget to do so, by result I do overload my bike regulary, which would be nice to avoid

It the thinking above to simplistic? Is there some one in the forum how has more indept knowledge about this or maybe is there someone how has already worked on this.

Best regards,

Jan

Its 7 months since the last exchange on this topic, and I'm in the meantime about 600€ speeding penalties for excessing 30km/u further :o, making may question painly relevant.

That's than also the reason why I reactive this question, "is there someone how has found away to lower the maximum speed setup in the costum setting below 60mph (97km/u)" and if possible as low as 20mph (30km/u).

There are thousand of better ways to spend money that to pay speed penalties. And sorry but controlling that low speeds manually is near to impossible, or dangerous because you would need to concentrate more to your speed measuring than to the traffic around you, but this hasn't worked as excuse to the police officers :-X

Hi, I have also a FXS2020, I have witnessed the same about 1% discharging a day. But as a remark I have also seen that this discharging rate is slowing down below 60% of load to about 1% every 3 days? I haven't questioned this until yet, please keep recording the feedback you receive from your dealer. For sure, it would be handy it the discharging rate would be lowered.

Jan :)

A quick answer.

The charging rate is limited by the internal charger so it won’t be significant faster in Europe compared with the VS.

You may count roughly 10% loading in 1 hour. The last 20% takes more time due to balancing of the batteries, in total resulting in 9hours for full loading.

Biggest gain in europe is the 240v tension level. This means that whatever pc cord will be sufficient to charge as is’t requesting only 3A.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: FXS 2020 belt snapped
« on: May 31, 2020, 12:21:26 PM »
I am seriously considering buying one of those to be able to limp home if my belt fails ( I do have a spare belt at home ), and I know that they're not meant for such use, but it may work.

 https://www.amazon.com/AUSPA-Power-Twist-V-Belt-2-Inch/dp/B075WRBHXB/ref=sr_1_10_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=link+belt&qid=1590862190&sr=8-10-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUE2WDc0WFRSQU1LQjUmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA5MTUxMzgyTFQxM0I4NEdCU0lHJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA1NTYwOTYxOTRXMVA2WDVRSlQzJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfbXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

If someone would buy and try some kind of these belts, it would be most intresting to have feedback. After having broken down 10km from home, limping back on the bike even at 20km/h sounds as heaven if you compare it to pushing a bike during 2 hours. 8)  ;)

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: FXS 2020 belt snapped

" Tensile break
This type of failure is typically due to crimping or severe shock loads to the belt. Crimping often produces a tear straight across the belt and can be caused by mishandling of the belt, inadequate tension, a pulley diameter that is too small, or debris in drive system. Shock loads often result in an angled tear across the belt and can be accompanied by tooth shear. "

Just 20 minutes on Google  :)

Thanks for your research but unfortunately I was on a complet flat even road, start at traffic lights in eco mode and as my FXS is a 11kw version .... without long duration drive stress.

As it brook after opening hours, I will bring the bike to the shop next week for a new belt, maybe i have just had bad luck, w’ll see, fingers crossed.

For those how are in the same case, of a snapping belt on a FXS2020, you have since yesterday evening a new member of the club. Mine has also broken on a tooth, and I'm 100% sure tension wasn't the cause as a had verified it with a krikit last weekend.

If it could help others, I can make share some more pictures since I have the belt and except being snapped its looks as new, no degradation what's ever. Remark: the carbon fibers on the left part at the bottom have clearly broken internally in the belt.

I'm not a belt specialist but if this snapping would appear more spread, it do think it would help Zero if we try a centralise information on this forum.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: FX/FXS rack kit?
« on: May 05, 2020, 03:41:49 PM »
Hello,

I remark that the panels that are delivered with the kit have been foreseen from cut-outs for the rack supports on Valnars pictures.

Please for all future user and costumers, take notice of this detail at reception of your package as mine, that have been delivered in december 2019, hadn't these cuts so I was obligated to cut them my self what is possible but a rather delicate little work as these plastic parts aren't flat so it is tricky to get it this neatly fit. Ones done, it is a superbe extra, I have a GIVI N47 stalled which keeps up very nice, even when loaded plenty of goods (up to 10kg).

I am wondering, has some one already tried to put a power connection on these racks. I would like to install a usb-connection for charging my mobile inside the Givi case by using the Givi connection point that is normally intended to relay to a extra stop light that can be integrated in the Givi N47 cases as an optional package.

Best regards, Jan

Back to the thread, my goal was to use the switchable custom setting as a speed limiter for driving more relaxed without need to permanently verify my speed in towns where general speed limitations of 20mhp is installed on complete area's of 10miles around. I don't know if this policy has already entered the States but in Europe, it has become the more and more generally spread as it politically supported as a way to ban cars out of the cities and improve air quality.

Or Zero bikes are already free of air pollution, so no problem. Only driving 20mph, its a hell of a job. So lowering the top speed value would be very much help, and it can be disabled with the mode switch, it is without block the bikes capability of driving more than 30mph. In plus I find the idee of ctrlburn to use it as a anti theft deterrent very inventive, if a some really wants to steal a bike he will succeed but maybe the bike doesn't move, he would take the next bike aside as he can escape directly by using the bike.

As the servicing centers here in Belgium aren't that easy to reach by phone or email or shop, it there someone out there in the forum how is living near Zero headquarters for asking them directly if it would be possible or if there are special reasons why the present minimum value is 60mhp, because we all want off course to keep or bike reliably running.
