Could it be the 10A charging fuse holder in the wiring harness? A similar thing happened on my bike and several others as described in this thread:

You can first clean the fuse holder contacts and see if that fixes it. If it does, then replace the whole fuse holder, as it's not the fuse but the fuse holder itself, and the problem will otherwise return. If it does not, then this is probably not the problem.

Purpose-built might perform better with specificity to their shape, but apparently we are skipping directly to general purpose. We have evolved to have a certain physical shape for coping in the world. We might as well not start from scratch in that department -- although they are adding 360 swivels to the joints to spice it up.

I'm absolutely amazed at what's going on. That thing where Captain Kirk is saying "Computer, what's that on the viewport?" is already freaking here. The technology where humanoid robots walk among humans is nearly within view. It will solidify as the training and inference slowly (5-10 years) blend together.

After listening to years of extraordinary claims that never happen, I am absolutely not buying this. It's too on-the-nose, solving every conceivable problem in one fell swoop from this company nobody's heard of founded in 2024, while major players like Toyota, QuantumScape, Solid Power, and Factorial target 2027-2030 after a decade of focused work.

The roll-out on motorcycles rather than cars is very suspicious -- we've seen multiple companies selling an expensive mystery bike in tiny numbers dragging on for years.

Biggest red flag: does anyone think this thing shouldn't burn even more furiously when damaged? The short-out temperatures would be high enough to melt anything around them, with so much pent-up energy, in a chain reaction. The claim of "no flammable electrolytes" has to be a joke.

That model is amazing (in addition to the bike!) It looks like a mock-up that the Energica designers themselves would have come up with. I was thinking it could be a 3D scan, but the quality of the mesh is much too good. Maybe it was cleaned up, or maybe a real model got leaked in the bankruptcy. There's certainly no guarantee that the backside of the fairings is accurate, certainly not down to the fasteners, or that anything hidden inside is in the model.

Anyone else interested in starting a new forum before everyone's permanently cut off?

A global EM forum should be hopping, even if there were only a few thousand of them. I don't know what's going on these days. The big SF Bay Area regular motorcycle forums are about finished too. I don't think it's Facebook stealing all the traffic -- there's not much there either. Motorcycle shows are done in the US. Half our local motorcycle dealers are gone. Motorcycling is dying.

So maybe no new forum?

Going on 10 years old, my 2016 Zero FX still works flawlessly, except for the range. It's down to 25-30 miles in the winter and ~35-40 in summer. The range indicator drops precipitously after a full charge, then drops more normally after 50%. I suspect it'll stay in this condition for several more years. I replaced it with a newer FXE, which in retrospect was maybe unnecessary since I only ride ~15 miles a day, but a very good deal came up.

Modular 6.5 (black).
14,000 miles, clear title.
Pirelli MT-90 tires are starting to square off.
Front wheel re-laced with heavier Buchanon 9 gauge spokes (2016).
Rear shock (SHOWA) rebuilt (2025).
Koso Apollo heated grips (2017).
Replaced the 10A charging fuse holder that fails on these bikes (2023).
Zero luggage rack (does NOT include Givi E340 top case).
Zero hand guards (black).
Original belt has never broken. I'll include a new belt.

New batteries from Zero are not remotely cost effective. I guess I could part it out, as a Z-Force 75-5 and matched Sevcon 4 goes for around $2000, charger around $300, wheels, forks, shock. But I'm asking for $2500 because it may have years left in it (and it puts any e-bike to shame)!

I also bought a spare Calex Green Watt EVC-116-720 charger that I never needed. I'll sell that separately for $300.

It took another day of forum errors before I could get this post through.

I think the shock body is only open on the adjuster end. The head seal fits in the open end and seals against the 14 mm shaft on the inside and against the 40 mm shock body ID on the outside. Further inside are the piston, valve and shims. This video shows the whole assembly process.



I ended up taking the shock to a local suspension specialist who took all of 1 hour and $240.
