Will any of risk the need to reprogram the key? I didn't get the yellow key when I bought the bike, and am not near a dealer, so am concerned about that. Thanks!

Any suggestions on anything I can possibly reset to get the bike to charge? Here's what happened. Yesterday I charged from 36% to 83% at a public level 2 station. Rode the bike 40 miles, stopped to fully charge before a long ride over some mountains. After connecting the charger, heard a click, got "error, charger not connected on the dash" and the bike showed error 37. Tried three different chargers, same error. Since I had 40% charge left I limped home at 35mph. Bike is now in garage with 15% charge. 120V wall charger shows same error. I have the shop manual, and d/l the logs (which haven't been useful). I'm looking for suggestions regarding anything I can do to attempt to remedy. I live several hundred miles from the nearest dealer, so renting a uhaul, etc, to get to a dealer would be costly (but doable, if needed). I bought the bike used a few months ago with 500 miles; now has a bit over 4K, and have had no previous charging problems. Suggestions?

I'm in Ashland, Oregon, with no close repair shops. Bike was knocked over in a parking lot by a hit-n-run. Broke left footpeg, damaged plastics, but bike is rideable - I moved a rear footpeg to the front. My question is, what dealers in Portland, the Bay Area, or closer might be best for getting a repair estimate and ordering/mailing replacement panels? What's your experience? (This happened in a hospital parking lot, and there is video of the driver)

After two SRs (last was donated to NPR), the SR/S is a fantastic upgrade! My only complaint is bugs all over my helmet, even after an extension on the windscreen. I've even gotten used to the goofy cruise control.

2018 Zero SR with charge tank for sale, $3500. Located in Ashland, Oregon. 32,500 miles. On last week's 40 mile test drive on interstate, holding as close as I could to 65mph, used 50% charge at 40 miles. Air temp was mid 60s. Road was reasonably flat, 800ft elevation drop over 40 miles. I weight 130 pounds. This is an older picture, bike currently has Metzler Roadtec 01 tires (less than 1K miles).

I'm selling since I recently acquired an SR/S. If not sold by August bike will be donated to my local NPR station. Contact info: fake4elephants@gmail.com (yes, that's a real address!)

I’m guessing the heat damaged wire was a result of the 1/4” stakeon connections & after eliminating them you’ll be good to go.
Make sure you cut out the heat damaged wires &/or dress up the individual strands with Scotchbrite before making your splices.  I recommend utilizing plenty of heat shrink to insure a good waterproof repair.
Finally got around to finishing this (photo should be attached). Plug is rated at 20A 125V. During charging, all connections and cords are far cooler than with the stock C13 socket. Plus, installation required no soldering or heat shrink (I've never mastered either).

See photo. I tested connections with an ohm meter. There are two grn/yellow wires. One is in the cable (three wires) connection to the charger. The 2nd I assume is a direct connection to the bike's chassis. (You said red; I said brown-ish)

After consideration, I'm going with Starpower's suggestion. My local HomeDepot had both male and female fittings in stock. Will send photo when finished. In the meantime I've attached a photo of the dismantled C13 from my SR. FWIW, bike has 25K miles, and I've tried to plug into the bike before plugging cord into power -- but have not always done so. As the kids say, "my bad."

Thanks for the pointer; most informative. However, replicating would likely be out of my skill set. I'm now thinking of dispensing with the C13 altogether and doing something goofy like splicing in the end of a 14awg extension cord and zip-tying it to the frame, especially in light of Shadow's comment: "Anecdotally people at Zero are aware that socket is a hot mess for the N. America market (120Vac double the amperage of 240Vac."

Am also thinking of installing a level 2 charger in my garage.

Until this is resolved, there are several (free) J1772 chargers within a mile of my house, so I'm still good to ride.
