Hey Chris,

It makes no sense to me that they would let one of their best mechanics go.
Also, why would they close the San Francisco location,since the Bay Area is a popular EV area?
I’m wondering, now about the wisdom of the new owners….

You saved my Ribelle more than once, and I will be forever grateful.

Secondly, I had a hub-wheel-motor EV bike for nearly 20 years (‘07 Vectrix VX-1), and yes it didn’t do that well over bumps with the unsprung weight, but otherwise it ran fine.
Other manufacturers besides Verge are working on hub-motor designs - because there is the huge advantage of the leaving extra space in the body of the vehicle for batteries (more range!)

With the use of lighter materials in the wheels and hub-motors, unsprung weight is becoming less of an issue it seems.

I test-rode the Verge bike last month for 1/2 an hour or so in San Jose - I was impressed with the technology.
Oh - and the ride modes can be switched on the fly from the hand controls, you don’t have to look down at the display on the ‘tank’. It has a ‘dash’ in the typical location with all of the relevant data.

As far as changing the tire - that does seem to be a challenge. I took my Vectrix rear wheel to a local shop once and they looked at it like I had just pulled it off of a UFO. They couldn’t use their machine to remove the tire from the hubless rim. They ended up doing it by hand with other tools. But it wasn’t impossible - and they did balance it somehow (not the spinning type of balance - but the level-bubble thing).

I wouldn’t rule out the Verge completely. Hopefully they’ll address the other issues, like the safety of the wiring, etc.

Sorry to hear about this… I was really hoping that things had worked out for you.

I spoke with Richard in person about your case last summer - I was in Hollister getting a new seat on my Energica - wandered back to the LM shop.
I asked him what happened to Apollo’s bike - he answered, “It was just a bad cell in the battery pack”. Like it was no big deal - easy to fix, end of story.

I've always thought the CE-04 was pretty cool (the CE-02 isn't bad either), it's just hard to justify that pricing. But 5 grand off isn't bad. How does it feel weight wise? It's super heavy but it seems like the weight's down low.

Yes - since the battery pack is low it does not feel heavy at all. It also has Reverse, so easy to maneuver in any direction. It’s quite nimble - a breeze in city traffic and on the freeway (for short commutes).
The speedometer registers 79 MPH as the top speed, but actual (GPS) is 77 MPH - not blazing fast, but adequate.

Just got home yesterday from Japan.
First thing I did this morning was clean the ABS sensors on my Ribelle (was easier than I had imagined - never had a bike with ABS before!)

I did a short test-ride and it seemed OK, but,

Since I was already working on it I also removed the upper and lower panels on both sides to check the turn-signal wires, as I also had those weird “INDICATOR SHORT CIRCUIT FAULT” error messages AND since I had disconnected and reconnected the front turn signal lights when I recently removed and reattached the side panels for a fluid change - but no loose connectors seen.
Then I checked the inverter fluid level (just in case I didn’t tighten a bolt enough when I changed the fluid) - I also checked the gear-oil drainage bolt to make sure it was tight and not leaking (also changed recently).
I also checked the water pump connections - good continuity.
I also checked all of the fuses for continuity (all OK).
Then, last but not least, I disconnected and reconnected the Molex connector.

I then went for a longer test-ride and the regen-braking appears to be functioning normally - whew! I was so afraid that I would have to take it in for service.

The ironic thing is - the ABS sensors didn’t really seem that dirty - there was no dirt on the front one at all, and only a little on the back sensor - maybe that’s all it took to cause a problem?

Anyway - I’m on the road again -thanks for your help!

The other day when I let off of the throttle on my ‘21 Ribelle I had a little heart attack when the bike did NOT slow down. I grabbed the friction brakes just in time, but… what happened?

I tried switching from the high to medium to low regen settings (and all the way off and back on), but the regen is no longer working at all.

Now when I release the throttle, instead of braking, two red lights start flashing on the dash (the two highest and most central - where you usually see the dash light up under heavy acceleration).

I tried the usual; turning the bike off/on and rebooting the bike without any luck.


Anyone else experience this? Looks like I might be bringing it back to the shop….

Also - got these error messages, which seem unrelated to regen (Left and Right Indicator Short Circuit Fault - oh, and the turn signals are working fine).

So you didn’t opt for the LFCS? How much more would that add to the cost?
