Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2012 and older / Re: New Zero S specs.
« on: August 11, 2009, 06:55:47 PM »
The newest specs for the Zero S are showing that it is slower, heavier and has a shorter range than previously noted. It is looking a lot more like the Brammo Enertia now. I thought I had seen somewhere that the 0-60 times were around 4 seconds. I am wondering what it is now. Is this Zero's idea of new and improved or is a truth in advertising issue? Anyone have any idea of what is behind the new specs?

Hey Guys:

Talked to Jeff at ZERO yesterday and got some scoop on the change in specs. ZERO was not happy with there off the line
performance so they geared the bike down to increase the off the line performance. That is why the top speed and range have decreased. The weight issue is due to the changes from prototype to final design as in the battery case is now made of
metal instead of plastic and they made some more changes to mounting connections for saddlebags to give a more robust mounting surface. Basically we are seeing the final design changes now and that is why the specs have been changed.

Electric Motorcycle News / Re: CA State Parks Partner with Quantya
« on: August 07, 2009, 04:47:30 PM »
Don't misunderstand me about Quantya, I am not bashing them but Blasting California.

All the articles I have seen put the two bikes neck and neck in quality and performance,
I just think it is a shame that the state that ZERO is manufacturing in and paying taxes to
is choosing a European manufacturer for their EV needs.

All the Best...............All the Time :'(

I too am a manufacturers sales rep for ZERO, I was told last week that my two ZERO S's will ship on Aug 14.
It is frustrating to be out there trying to sell something that you have been waiting on for 8 months.
All the Slips and slides of first run production are somewhat understandable but it still ticks me off from
a business perspective.

All the Best..................All the Time

tim ;D

What model do you have on order? I'm a dealer for Zero and have the latest delivery updates for you. X and MX models are about 2 week lead time. S models will not ship until mid to late August. The good part is that if you put a deposit in last December then you can be assured that you will be one of the first to get their S model. We have a prototype here and you're going to find it was worth the wait. Zero is refining the bike each week and what you get will exceed your expectations. Wait till you see how it handles!  ;)

Although I love the idea of electric bikes in parks it is a shame that the State of California is choosing Quantya
a foreign manufacturer for there motorcycles. ZERO is a California company that makes some of the best electric
bikes on the planet. This is what is wrong with our country we give the business to foreign manufacturers instead of
putting Americans to work. Shame on California for not using a manufacturer in their own state.

Wake up people we need to put americans to work not the Swiss.

redeye said it......

Save American jobs or we won't have any......!

This is an exciting partnership.  If the state parks embrace electric dirt bikes maybe we could get some of our trails back.  Any thoughts?

The new Quantya Dual Sport "Strada" was developed as a patrol vehicle for law enforcement. "This was a great opportunity for us to learn from State Parks widely recognized experience, and to gain direct feedback on how we can enhance our vehicle's functionality," said David Lodermeier, Technical Services Manager for Quantya USA.  The bike's electronic design and silent operation make it perfect to ride in natural settings without causing disturbance and for campground patrols.

To commence the evaluation, State Park Rangers at Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area took possession of the new Quantya "Strada" on August 8th, said John Vallett, Chief Ranger, "... the bike has been perfect for us because we can ride through the park with very little disruption to wildlife, or patrol the campgrounds at night and not disturb guests who are sleeping; while at the same time can have the confidence in the performance of the bike when it is called upon."

well I am ticked off, I put my deposit down in December of last year and thought I would get mine in April....!

I do want them to get the product right as I have several sells pending the arrival of the S.

Now they are  saying August 8, 2009.......

Is it true that they had failures of their batteries....? :'(
