Hi All,

Question 1 - Is there a special trick of which I am unaware to enable the deferred/ delayed charging function on the DSR/X?  Whenever I try to use it charging starts immediately.

Question 2 - The remaining battery level display remains on whatever the last charge was when unplugged. It does not display the level reducing with use but will show the

increase when re-charged. This fault might have appeared since the most recent firmware update.

Any ideas?

Bike is on the the latest firmware update.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / UK charge leads - gen 3 bikes

I had the house electrics checked and as a result a fault which had been created when solar panels were recently fitted
was rectified although this did not help with the bike charging issue. I had tried another lead but still had the charging problem
when attempting to charge at home.  Charging from a public charger is fine. The electrician who checked the house wiring
suggested charging at a lower amperage - controlled via the box on the charge lead. The device was set at 10 amps so I tried
8 & 6 amps and it seems to be ok with that. Thanks for your advice and comments.

Cas, thanks for your answer but if there is a fault with the bike I wonder why that does not appear if charging at a
public charge point. It seems to me the bike does not like type 2 mode 2 leads; I have tried two with the same result.

I'll get the bike checked at first service.

I made a mistake in my original question - I meant gen 3 bikes, specifically a DSR/X
Which charges as expected on a public type 2 charger, using a Zero type 2 mode 3 lead. When charging from a 3 pin socket at home using an EU approved Type 2 mode 2 lead it only charges for a few minutes before cutting out and showing error codes 31 & 43. I can repeat the process but charging still stops after a few minutes. I have tried different 3 pin plug sockets. Any advice is gratefully received.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / DSR/X belt tension
« on: October 14, 2025, 01:46:05 AM »
I finally got there - bought a DSR/X. I've ridden some older Zeros plus SRS & DSR/X so I knew what to
expect. I'm really pleased with the bike but wondering about belt tension now I've covered a little over 100 miles.

The manual states 62-84hz. Using the Gates app, the belt tension on my bike is approx 50hz but feels pretty tight to
me. There's around 12mm of free movement in the middle of the bottom belt run. Not very precise I know, but in view of
reported belt failures, I would like other users opinions.

Have any UK owners of gen 3 bikes experienced problems with charging from a UK household 3 pin socket using a CE marked 3 pin to Type 2 (single phase) charge lead?

Thanks to The Ran for spotting my error  :-[

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / DSR/X range

What range are DSR/X owners getting from a full charge for highway/ motorway riding and mixed riding which doesn’t include highway miles. Does ambient temperature significantly affect range?

Thanks for your comments. I can’t see any information in the links which refers to the updated batteries in the the 23 and 24 SRF/S and DSR/X. I think they differ from the 20/21 14.4 batteries.

I've been reading about Li ion battery technology  - which may or may not be a good idea - and found the following info on
this site, from 2015.

Battery manufacturer is Farasis
The chemistry used is Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt: LiNiMnCoO2 (NMC) - Also know as NCM, CMN, CNM, MNC and MCN

I cannot find a similar, more recent statement and would like to know if this information applies to the batteries fitted to the current
SR and DSR platforms?

Could also do with a proper belt guard, like that fitted to the DSR/X, the Livewire and all belt drive Harleys. Perhaps that's why there seems to be a belt snapping issue.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / DSR/X front brake discs

Have DSR/X owners experienced front brake disc warping, which seems to be a problem with SR/S models?
I don't have the part numbers but comparing photos of both bikes, the discs look like very similar.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Ex demo Zero - 17.3KWH battery
« on: October 12, 2024, 02:01:09 AM »
Hi all, if a demonstrator Zero, let's assume it's fitted with the 17.3 KWH battery, sits in a dealer showroom for two years
having covered very few miles and the battery is maintained at around 60% charge, is the battery likely to be degraded,
or likely to degrade more quickly when the bike starts getting used regularly?

Would a review of the charging history be useful?

Thanks to all respondents. Sounds like Zero may have nailed it with the DSR/X (possibly the latest SRF/S too?).

Residual value: I know the bike's value will drop - and probably faster than an ICE bike. I'm guessing there is
also a very small market for a used Zero, at least here in the UK.

That's why I wanted to better understand if long term ownership is likely to be less of a problem than some earlier
models. My intention is to keep the bike for as long as possible.
