Handlebar Riser suggestions
« on: August 16, 2016, 10:36:00 AM »

I'm looking for handlebar risers for my 2016 Zero S. I've searched and found some mentioning of Rox risers. I think they're more for dirt and adventure bikes but was wondering if they might work for my Zero S? Has anyone tried them? Any other suggestions? I would like to move the bars up and back towards me.

Yes use the Rox Risers on my 2015 Zero S.  Work great.  Diameter 1 1/8", length 2"

I looked on Rox's website but not sure which one to get as the Zero is not listed. Which one did you get? Was it an easy install? Are the cables long enough? How did it change your riding ergonomics?

Yes install takes 10 minutes, you take out the 4 allen bolts holding the bar and put the risers in place and tighten finger tight, then put the handlebars in the riser top.  Find the angle you want (combination of height or further back depending on the angle you choose).  remove handlebar and tighten lower bolts.  Put handlebar back in and tighten upper bolts finger tight.  Rotate bar so brake lever and controls are at the proper height, and then tighten upper bolts with an allen wrench.

Would you happen to know the model number of the one you got?

I found one that should work. Did you have to do anything to the cables or brake lines? Like removing zip ties, clips or rerouting? Mine doesn't look like it would be able to accommodate the extra 2 inch rise.

A 2-inch rise is fairly aggressive in my experience with risers on a V-Strom 650, but brake lines should be more flexible on the S than the DS.

What do you mean by aggressive? Too high? I think the Rox risers can rotate forward or backwards. You didn't like the 2-inch rise on your V-Strom?

I believe it's 2" risers, but maybe it's only 1 1/2".  I think I had to slip the brake line up a little by loosening the rubber holders and sliding it up slightly and then retightening them, but I think that was it.

Oh, just pulling too much on stock cables. Ergonomically, no objection - just a practical cost.

Let us know how it goes for you, I am interested in trying to doing the same thing if I do not have to mess with the cables.

Documented here:

And I found this very interesting modification which I also linked from the wiki under "advanced":
