I've
thought about it for TTXGP NA championship in Daytona FL. It's about a 600 mile trip for me.
You'd need to integrated
3-4 onboard chargers (or possibly use a separate 4 kW offboard charger) and map out J1772 / 220v charge points along the way. Ideally you would want to do a 1 hour ride (50-60 miles @ 45-50 mph) followed by 2 hours of charging.
Schedule might look like this:
0500-0600 ride 50 miles
0600-0800 breakfast, charge
0800-0900 ride 50 miles
0900-1100 charge
1100-1200 ride 50 miles
1200-1400 lunch, charge
1400-1500 ride 50 miles
1500-1700 charge
1700-1800 ride 50 miles
1800-2000 dinner, charge
2000-2100 ride 50 miles
charge overnight, could plug in @ 110v at a hotel
Note if you could find a 35 mph route that was fairly direct, you could probably make only two charging stops during the day and cut about 3 hours total off the trip time per day.
0800-1100 ride 100 miles @ 35 mph
1100-1300 lunch, charge
1300-1600 ride 100 miles @ 35 mph
1600-1800 dinner, charge
1800-2100 ride 100 miles @ 35 mph
Most of the roads I would have to take would be county roads and state highways, and realistic speeds are 45+ mph on the road.
An aero fairing would be ideal. Would love to see one.
