Update-

Kickstands up at 10 AM, on *Sunday* ride *to great bridge views* with us!  We'll keep it slow, have a good time, and take advantage of any twisties *en route* the bridges, take some good summertime photos.  Meet by the Volta charging stations at Stonestown Galleria, and we'll start with Great Highway to the Golden Gate, 64.5 miles total, as few highway miles as possible, and we'll ride the highway segments slow to maximize range and views.

Meeting points:

1. https://api.plugshare.com/view/location/50977

2. on request: Berkeley, for those with shorter range (DM me how far you can go, where you'd like to meet!)

Highlights:

Views of Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, both sides.

Views of Bay Bridge from SF side and also, both directions from Treasure Island.

Twisties back roads through the Berkeley/Oakland Hills, past the San Pablo and Briones resevoirs,

Great views of the Benicia and Carquinez Bridge.

Lunch location: Warehouse Cafe in Porta Costa.

I've optimized the route for good views of the bridges, not so much crossing them.  We will cross the Bay Bridge in the non-toll direction with sight-seeing stops on Treasure Island.

Approximate route:

https://goo.gl/maps/D2wNhmmSvuR2
https://goo.gl/maps/MSpi3cZUm5C2
https://goo.gl/maps/D2wNhmmSvuR2

(I've done it in 3 segments because Google Maps tries hard to optimize for time spent rather than distance and scenic interest, and limits you to 10 explicit locations per URL)

NOTE:

If you have any range anxiety about the ride, we'd be happy to discuss it, adapt for a later join-up or skipping some segments. You can post here or private message me and/or Brian.  My 2014 SR seems to have about 8.5 kwh usable range (or trouble measuring, it's TBD).  Those with less range, e.g. X platform motorcycles, are welcome to join us for the first part or the second part.  Berkeley would be a good place charge up and start full.  From there we'll go backroads over the ridge, past the reservoirs, avoid the range-sucking freeways.

Third Saturday is the 15th this month.

Shall we go back on that schedule?

Saturday after the third week is the 22nd, which could also work.

Where shall we go?

Last several were south oriented, shall we do something east or north?  Brian, Anton, David, tamjam, any favorites?

I'm open to suggestions as well.

The Mount Tam ride was my favorite so far: http://electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?topic=6741.0

There are good rides out east that are at least worth trying to plan:
Port Costa has some twisty roads and ends at a barn-pub: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Port+Costa,+CA/
Mount Diablo has some more twisty roads: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Mt+Diablo,+California+94598/

changed it to Sunday (Brian T Rice conflict, no other RSVPs at this time), updated the top.

It's surprising sometimes how variable the crowd is, people show up without saying anything in advance.  Or not.

Re-named all post titles accordingly.  I'll have my bike apart Saturday, so maybe if I can get it back together for Sunday and the fast charging doesn't totally suck... sounds like fun.

Cool.  What are you taking your bike apart for?

Don't do what I did, and redo your charging just before a big ride, leaving a key component at home : - )

Charging setup is coming apart, naturally. The front DigiNow SCv2 two-stack cuts out at 20 minutes from thermal saturation with the bracket I have on there. Got another idea I want to try which should improve airflow.
