Carbon Fiber wish list
« on: July 20, 2016, 12:37:27 AM »

Unfortunately, I think our bikes aren't plentiful enough for an aftermarket company to take notice (YET), but I would LOVE to be able to replace the plastic hugger and belt guard with a carbon fiber item.  And while they were at it, it would be great if they could fabricate a carbon fiber LOWER belt guard, too.

All three of my Buells had upper and lower belt guards, and I am a little nervous that the lower end of the belt is fully exposed on the Zero.

Linking the belt guard thread which has that 3-d print option I've been meaning to inquire about: http://electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?topic=5619.0

I see someone quoted the Harley engineer regarding belt life with the upper and lower guards in place.  That was what I was talking about in another thread... Harleys routinely go tens of thousands of miles on a single belt.

When Buell switched from the Gates belt (used on Harleys and the earlier tube-frame models) to the Goodyear belt used on the XB and 1125R bikes, those belts were projected to last the lifetime of the bike.  They also did not have any means of adjustment as it was deemed to be unnecessary with them.
