Thanks Brammofan.  Just keep in mind that I originally wrote that review for a BMW club newsletter in Vermont and it is directed at people who know little or nothing about electric vehicles.  So I didn't try to argue that the Zero would be a replacement for their BMW motorcycle but tried to show its usefulness as a day-to-day supplement for someone who already owns an IC motorcycle or for someone who doesn't want the hassle of riding a large IC motorcycle around town to accomplish their daily routine.

There is another article coming along next week where I speculate about the future of electric motorcycles from my pragmatic point of view of having observed the industry for the past 5 years.

Nice write-up Richard.
I tend to be a bit more optimistic, with Lito, Lightening, and Mission all in the news recently. Yamaha too, although they haven't released specs yet. Based on the photos it can't have a very big battery pack, but I'm sure they'll get more press than all of the start-up companies, which will bring attention to electric bikes in general.
I don't wish for another 70's-style oil-embargo, of course, but the recent increase in gas prices seems to have sparked interest in EVs again. Two of my co-workers bought electric cars in the last couple of months. Another co-worker is considering one. Call me biased, but I think the future of electric bikes and EVs in general, is bright

My dad was born in Missouri and I must have inherited some of his genes.  So I tend not to believe a lot of stuff that I hear on the internet until I actually see that it is on sale and available to the public and not just a nice idea that someone dreamed up to generate investor interest in the hopes of funding their concept some day.
